Not sure if they would tho, but here a pic testing volcanic glow using modified shaders (and some code), looks great at "night".

Shadmar, you certainly have an eye for a good photo there. I really like what your doing playing around with the shaders, it really does look like lava flows! :girlglasses:

Yeah! I suspect that there are molten planets out there that look very much like that.

I wonder how this effect would look on a Brown Dwarf... got time to indulge my curiosity on that? :) For actual stars I figure make the whole thing glow, but Brown Dwarfs might very well have hot clouds and cold clouds, especially since (I think...) they still have active convection cycles while "proper" stars don't... so you could get a lot more variation in surface temperatures than just a few sunspots and flares...

I guess if brown dwarves where drawn like gas giants with a tint of red, it would work great by glowing gases. in shader.

They've found a brown dwarf with a nice dusty disc encircling it. Possibilities of planetary formation, perhaps?
