RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
Braben uses a teleprompter, maybe he should share. The hardware for it isn't that expensive, a display and a mirror. The software can be had for free especially if you own an Amiga. This guy was pretty unconvincing as far as a game update went. Still on the fence about getting this anyways. Elite 4 has been in the pipeline for years, really beginning to wonder if he will ever make a decent sequel.

I don't get what you guys are on about. English isn't even my mother tongue yet I understood everything.
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
It's that man again without jumper this time. Some interesting new at the start, looks like they have some more money from investors may be some compromises on the way. Also trying to justify the design of the imperial ships.

RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
I've run out of superlatives, but I have 1 concern and one question for the community manager. The concern about the footage: Althought Newtonian physics were promised, I'm not seeing enough intertia. Perhaps the ships have too little mass? Here's my favourite space game for "feel":http://tinyurl.com/pchhb8u It's called Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos, was released in 2001 and is British as well. The way player's ship flies, responds to inputs, carries inertia and angular momentum almost makes the person in control feel the G forces. Please make sure your game is at least as good in this area...if not better. The question: Can you give us an approximate prediction on how many expansion packs are there going to be and how much are they going to cost?
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
Nice
Cockpit looks a lot better than it did in the stills also looks like the scale and size of the ships has been adjusted. Can never too wrong with a StarWars death star trench run even if it is inside a ship. :good:

Also the decal damage textures look amazing! They look like they radiate heat for real.
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
Pretty standard for game developers to create a cinematic trailer nowdays
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
Pretty Trailer. Looks ingame. But one will not know for sure until release. No matter. Was nice having seen something.
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
Hi StarMaxThat latest vid is scripted but uses the in game engine with a wee bit of post processing to enhance it a bit. The cockpit is a mock-up to serve as a place holder for the real one still in development.

The question: Can you give us an approximate prediction on how many expansion packs are there going to be and how much are they going to cost? Hey DiabloTigerSix, As Cody pointed out, this video wasn't really designed to show the flight model- the animators scripted it (there's no way anyone in the office has the discipline to stay that in-formation!). So I wouldn't read much into that element of it. In fact the video's main role was as a tool to help us choose a composer for the project- you can read more about that here (I'm assuming our updates are publically viewable?) In regards to expansion packs, it's impossible to say at this point I'm afraid. Obviously we have a lot of plans for this game post-launch and want to continue adding more depth and immersion, but how many expansions or updates that equates to is very difficult to accurately perdict this early in development. All of our focus right now is on making sure that the core game is everything our fans expect, once that is in everyone's hands we'll be able to begin sharing details on post-launch content with everyone!

Dev Diary 6 out.
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
Yep! All the fanbois are excited by a glimpse of what may be a Cobra Mk III - and news about in-system travel is imminent.
RE: Elite:Dangerous videos
I don't know, maybe that looks more like a Mk 1 to me Cody or perhaps a re-imagined Gecko? Doesn't seem big enough for a Mk III, I could be wrong though.
