Need help naming + Feedback

A lot of gaming is starting to move in a different direction from traditional PC/Consoles to handheld devices (Android/iOS) and web based games. This area will be for discussing all of the mobile, web, telnet, flash, silverlight, unity and java based games and technologies.

Need help naming + Feedback

Post by UtilityFunction »

I need finding a good name for my game. The current working title is "Sim Space" but I don't feel that it fits the game. Sim Space is a tactical space shooter I am developing for Android. If you have any suggestions for a name post away!I'm trying to make the perfect controls for mobile. I have a version of the game I want you to try out and give me feedback.I want to know what you think of the controls. Is the game fun to play?Do the controls feel fiddly or do they feel natural? What would make them feel more natural?Any other feedback about the game is of course welcome. Download linkhttp://www.indiedb.com/games/sim-space-combat/downloads/simspacealpha2[/url]

Dumb question.....how do I get this onto my phone? Do I have to do it the "old fashioned" way? :-D (In other words, download file, send to phone, install somehow, etc) or can I get it from Google Play? Sorry for my ignorance! auryx

Auryx, download it from link, move it somehow to phone (or download it using phone itself!) and then run it using package manager (installer) :) I haven't got any Android device atm so I can't test it now. I will try later.

Yes you do need to install it the old fashioned way!I forgot to include instructions on how to do that sorry. You can download it directly on your phone if you follow the above link on your mobile, which ever is easiest. APK Installation instructions:1. Enable share phone/SD card memory with PC.2. Copy the game to a file on the phone or SD card.3. Go to settings, Applications* and enable "Unkown sources" this allows you to install apps manually without using play store4. Using your file browser** locate the games .apk file. Run it and the game will install.* This setting may be in a different location depending on Android version** You might not have one as Android does not have it by default. I use Astro file manager. You can pick up any one off google play for free in a few seconds.

Sadly I don't have an Android phone (although I believe my Vodafone 575 runs J2me apps) but looking at the screenshots the first thing that popped into my mind was "Grid Blaster", but that's a little too close to "Grid runner". How about "Grid Space"? On a side-note, is it just me or is the player ship a little remiscient of the Maquis fighter from Star Trek Voyager...?

Feel free to upload a apk here if you'd like, I haven't created a mobile download area yet but I can. I will try to get to trying this soon on my android tablet, do you have any small story behind the game that sets the game up at all UtilityFunction? I know with using the story you can usually come up with a name to match. I want to say I have seen the name Grid Space used somewhere.

Ah yes the story. That is essential for naming. At the moment there is not much of a story, but the theme - or idea of the game is that you are Playing / taking part in a combat simulation to test out equipment + boost your piloting skills.
