Anacreon Alpha Test

Post by GeorgeMoromisato »

I'm alpha testing my new game and I'd love for people to try it out. Anacreon is a real-time, massively-multiplayer, galactic conquest game. Of course, it is not nearly done yet: there are both missing features and ugly bugs, but if that doesn't scare you you'll get a chance to influence the design of the game with your feedback. A quick feature list: A real-time, persistent universe; the current alpha test is running a galaxy of 5,000 worlds, which is sufficient for about 100 simultaneous players. Later tests will be larger.A unique and complex economic model allowing you to set up trade-links between your worlds without micromanagement.Real-time orbital combat with dozens of units.A scalable UI that goes from a view of the entire galaxy down to a single planet and all points in between.Free to play; requires an HTML5-capable browser (latest Chrome, Firefox, or IE; it runs on Macs, but not on iPads yet). Thanks for checking it out and please let me know what you think! Try it out here: http://anacreon.kronosaur.com Some screenshots:

Welcome to SSC, George. Thanks, Cody! I've been a lurker for a while. SSC has a great community and I'm confident I'll get some helpful feedback.

Really digging the style of the maps. Do you plan on overlaying them over any star / galaxy backgrounds?

Really digging the style of the maps. Do you plan on overlaying them over any star / galaxy backgrounds? Glad you like them! Much of the artwork is unfinished. I definitely plan on having appropriate backgrounds for the maps. Also, I plan on adding random nebulae through the galaxy that will look pretty but also have game effects (hiding planets, slow down fleets, etc.)

Hi George and welcome again to SSC.Registered for Anacreon and started playing (quickly screening the docs) and have a question we'll we be able to adjust the build rates? I try to click on the icons and it doesn't let me adjust the ship build rates and things like that. I definitely learned the hard way attacking another planet that you have to have double the troops, but what doesn't make sense to me is that you need one transport per troop?Lets say I want to take 5000 troops with me, I need to take 5000 transports to be able to do this if not I exceed the cargo space threshold. Is this intended?

Hey George, Am I missing something with production itself? Because I have been trying to take a small planet near my base and it seems impossible because my planet just doesn't make enough assets to at the least take out the opposing space assets. Besides that I think planet defenses are way to strong, for instance a armored satellite has 130 armor but the Adamant Jump Ship has 13 and the satellites do more damage than the ships. So if there over 1000 guarding a planet I really need to have a huge amount of assets to just destroy the satellites never mind the planet surface.

Hey, DarkOne. I apologize for not seeing this message earlier. Yeah, I definitely need to adjust some of the defenses (and the UI as well). Thank you for this feedback. You are most likely attacking a high-tech world. You've correctly deduced the relative powers of the Adamant vs. the armored satellites (though I suspect I need to make this much clearer for other people). You can also see the "space forces" of a world on the InfoPane when you select the world. If that is much higher than the "space forces" of your fleet, then you will likely not succeed. When first starting out I recommend very low-tech planets (atomic level or lower). [The symbol underneath the planet indicates its tech level.] Once you can conquer at least one other world, you can have it produce supplies (food, etc.) and import that to your capital. That will allow your capital to produce more ships. Since producing food doesn't take much technology, it is OK to conquer weaker worlds at first. As I said, though, I also need to tone down the strength of independent worlds. Thanks again for giving the game a try.
