When I saw your post Pinback I thought you were talking about the Classic XBox. After looking at this new one, think I will stick with my old Classic and 360 XBoxs. One good thing though will come out of it, lots of the 360 stuff will start to drop in price so bargains ahead! :girlcrazy:

I have no ideia - and to be quite honest, not much interest (I'm a PC gamer) - whether the X-Box One (XBO) will be sucessful. It certainly is a gamble, and a hard one, for controlling the living room. PS4 is way more focused on games. The interesting part is the shared tech part is the greatest in any generation (at least it seems to me), with octa-core of Jaguar & GCN powering both consoles. It will be interesting to see the effect it will have on speed of development - specially platform ports. And maybe that will help all consoles in the cycle to survive, as greater shared resources can (conceptually) lower dev costs compared to sales. But all the reported XBO focus on "living room" features is a bit off.

That used game DRM crap is a huge turn off to me, and what effect will that have on places like Gamefly that rent games? Hmm don't think that was a bright move by MS. With both the PS4 and XboxOne both being basically PC's maybe we will see all titles that are on consoles on PC's.

It the whole point of having DRM on console is to kill off the second hand games market it's some thing they hate more than pirates. Never understood why the prima donnas of the games industry think their product is different from books, film or records. I guess this may be the last generation of console to use physical game disk. Let hope the quality of the so called triple A titles improves as some of the recent ones have been a disaster.

Have a look at this. It could have implications for the XBox One and a whole host of big publishers who want to ban reselling games in the EU. Thanks go to Jabbywocky who pointed this out on his Salvation Prophecy forum here.

Trick to see how they would implement that on the PC, might have a better chance on the consoles.

Very true Pinback, but never under estimate The Court Of Justice of the European Union. When they dig their heels in about something, it's usually very difficult to get them to change their minds and if that does indeed happen it's literally game over for the "rented" DRM model at least where the EU are concerned. Of course publishers and distributors might well decide to quit those markets, reasoning that the risk of casual piracy is too great. It would be upto them to make that judgement call. How much is the EU worth to them in sales?

The Court Of Justice of the European Union might have no jurisdiction in the UK within a few years.

Perhaps Cody, then again the UK may not have any jurisdiction in Scotland next year either. Yes, an unpredictable world we live in these days.

I only owned Sony consoles and PS4 will definitely be in my future, I even heard the Xbox One was going to retail for $499, I think that is more than the expected PS4 price. MSoft I think is in for a surprise this Xmas when the console wars begin. Nevermind the fact that you can play/buy used games for the PS4 that alone is the reason to get a PS4. I never saw a space game for the PS3 and maybe that is about to change for the PS4 :) With the Xbox One having very similar hardware as the PS4 it is very important to show why you should buy a Xbox over a PS, well MSoft hasn't done a good job yet in my opinion on selling me to buy one.

That's brilliant   There is one group who we have not heard anything from and that is the game developers, they could pull the rug from under Sony by not supporting the console after all the XB1 is their wet dream, a way to control the pre- owned market.
