RE: Avatar franchise expanded to three sequels
I'm not sure Avatar is the kind of movie that would need a sequel, let alone 3 of them. I hope this does not turn into one of those "let's milk it till we kill it" movie franchises.

Agree with Solcommand, Avatar a good film even if it a rip off of "a man called horse" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Man_Called_Horse_%28film%29 simple does not need any sequels but it looks like we will be getting them. You have to wonder where they are going with the story are we going to get some sort of Aliens style war movie.

They're obviously going to nuke Pandora from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I am kinda interested in the sequels personally. Yes the first movie is great just as is, but even watching the first movie you kinda wanted to know more about the other surface tribes. But from what I gathered we will probably have more of what is under the oceans of Pandora. Which might be entertaining since the Abyss director does pretty well. I don't know about a prequel though, who cares what the back story is about the humans, we all know it will eventually come to this in the end so who cares

I want to see them use spacefaring organisms (like the ones Zergs have) I'm sure they'll find some on that fantastic world. That way the evil militant corporations can go ahead and TRY to nuke them from orbit.Jokes aside... they might cook up some ideas as to how the gravitational and magnetic anomalies from that planet (we saw floating islands) protect them from virtually any orbital bombardment.

prequel might be a way to go with it, how was Pandora found and theirs always the grace backstory which is hinted at in the film.
