X3 Complete Beginner Tutorial?

Post by NatureDruid »

After picking this game up on steam with the promise of an incredible space sim I was both amazed by the atmosphere and how overwhelming the learning curve is. I have looked up tutorials, but they all seem to go into the complexities of the game. The only thing I know how to do right now is to fly. Can someone give a basic overview of how to trade or other ways to make revenue?

I usually shipped ore from Herron's Nebula to Argon Prime. Similar with Energy Cells from the sector east of Argon Prime (IIRC The Hole or The Wall) to Argon Prime. That usually results in you being able to build your first station within 4 hours of gameplay with little risk of your ships.

I have been following the information in this handbook. I have been using bits and pieces from this to get started. Also some handy web site to look at.http://www.thexuniverse.com/

Are the only places you can go to Argon controlled? I have only found 7 star systems so far.

There's 5 main races (6 if you have Terran Conflict or higher), Pirates, Xenon and Goner and they all have at least a few systems in their control. Are you using SETA? Press "j" (lowercase) to speed up the game. I remember when I first played X3 it was a week before I even knew what SETA was. I actually thought the game was naturally that slow.
