Important note on cockpits

Post by nozmajner »

You might noticed that there's an experimental cockpit option in the new build. The emphasis is on experimental.Activating it without the needed cockpit files might hang the game for you. (When you enable it in the Main Menu) Here's a work in progress test mod for those who want to play with it, but don't expect anything polished functionally or visually.Codewise this is a backport from Paragon.Visuals-wise it's a very-WIP fully encased monitor-viewport cockpit with some static texture instruments without any relation to any ship. Note that I'm posting this to address and avoid questions and bug-reports about why it doesn't work before they turn up. We are right now in the process of assessing, how would we even approach this entire cockpit problem/concpet with it's huge can of worms. This also means that it's too early to collect any feedback, opinions or suggestions about it, so please don't start excessive talk about it for now. :)

Do you mean trails following ships? If so then yes there is a pull request for the feature it's in review at the moment.

Just to be sure, I meant this which, to be fair, was copied from Volition's Terminus anyway I'm kinda fapping right now, just thinking about it

Pazazu, well it doesn't look quite like that but yes trails of a kind. Those trails work well for slow speeds but Pioneer you tend to be whizzing along at high speed. Take a look at the current release, you turn them on in the options menu, they are OFF by default. Then let us know what you think about them, any bugs and improvements/alterations that you would like to see and we'll discuss them.
