Mysterious Mars Rock Looks Like 'Jelly Donut,'

Post by Pinback »

http://www.space.com/24356-mars-rock-mystery-opportunity-rover-photos.html So the big question is it just NASA getting mixed up at which bit of Mars they are looking at or is some strange alien game of dropping rocks in front of the rover. :haha:

“The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds the most discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (but 'That's funny...” Isaac Asimov :) - Rover disintegration side effect.- Close encounter or the meteorite kind.- Light weight flying martian debris. (Although those little Mars tornado's don't seems to be able to pickup much weight, due to the low air pressure.)- ... ? Not Aliens, "Must be Martians" ;) --- "while the other theory is that the rock was kicked up by one of the rover's six wheels during its recent drive."Right, I did not think about that one.

Not Aliens, "Must be Martians" ;) Could have been a tourist. Would have thought a meteorite even a very small one would leave more marks on the ground.

Mmm. With the thin Mars atmosphere ... yea. Even if its flung out debris of a more distant meteoroid impact, there would probably also be more debris visible around the rover. That "Displaced by the Rover itself" sounds the most likely one at the moment. But the meteoroid one would be a nice one. :)
