Star Citizen - Alpha 2.0 Trailer

Star Citizen is not just an Multiplayer game, it will also contain a single-player game (Squadron 42) which will put you into the persistant server for multiplayer when it is completed. Star Citizen is a game being worked on by Roberts Space Industries. This EPIC game will be released in 2014.

Oh I agree SC is very ambitious and if they deliver it will be a game that will be played for years and years. Think the hardest part is bringing all these mechanics together to work in a single experience and not have it be buggy as hell. I haven't played too much SC at all because I want it to be a surprise to me when it is done.
