Procedural planets part V : Clouds

XFrontier is yet another Frontier-Elite 2 remake, with some key features that should differentiate it from the original project : planets with improved rendering, virtual cockpits, game contents and rules totally moddable through lua-scripting, option of leaving your pilot's seat and explore your ship and the surface of planets by yourself.

Procedural planets part V : Clouds

Post by nevilclavain »

It's now time for REAL fun, it's time to work on clouds o/ Before turning to the integration of the volumetric clouds system, adding a global clouds layer to the planet, with a slight embossed effect. -Nev- PS : notice the increased FPS compared to my previous posts. Now I'm coding and testing on a brand new laptop, provided with a GTX 950M GPU

The thing with those screenshots, Nev, is I can't help but imagine them in the Ooniverse.Oolite flight/game mechanics with those planets and starfields - a Cobra pilot's heaven! Time for a musical interlude, methinks...

VIDEO. Well unfortunately it will be difficult to release a decent video before start of june now, as I'll be on holliday abroad next week, and I'll be back only Monday 30 May . So I would say: "wait and see" :D

No pressure at all Nevil.... your screenshots kinda set the stage for a great video haha. On your work will the atmospheric clouds be moving on the planet or will they look static from space?Recommend you make a new post for the video so you get maximum exposure when you do finish it.

On your work will the atmospheric clouds be moving on the planet or will they look static from space? For now I should slowly rotate it on a random axis I think Recommend you make a new post for the video so you get maximum exposure when you do finish it. Yes i'll do it like that :-)
