Hello SSC - New recruit reporting in (also, hobby game developer)

Post by cjgamedev »

Hello everyone, my name is Clinton (aka cjgamedev)

I've been a pretty big fan of sci-fi/space entertainment for a while. Some of the sci-fi games I've played over the years include Battlezone 1/2, Heavy Gear 1/2, Tachyon - The Fringe, Freespace 2, Star Citizen, Endless Space 2, Mass Effect 1/2/3/Andromeda, Starcraft 1/2, Homeworld, Sins of a Solar Empire, Starpoint Gemini 2, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, and more that I'm sure I'm missing at the moment.

I would really be interested if anyone has any suggestions on games I could try out that aren't in the above list.

I've also been working on my own sci-fi game called Nova Conflict. It is a turn-based strategy game set in space. Right now I'm working on the core gameplay but it will come with an in-game map and campaign editor so that players can share their own custom campaigns with others. If you're interested you can check it out at www.novaconflict.com. And if you want to keep up with Nova Conflict's development you can subscribe to my channel on YouTube here.

I've been visiting this site as a guest for a while but finally decided to just join the party on the bridge!

Notice you don't have any Wing Commander or Privateer games on that list tsk tsk tsk :)

You can download and play Wing Commander Saga for free and there is a ton of mods btw that you can get for Freespace 2 that are just great. Freelancer, Starlancer.

Just scroll through the forums and you will see a bunch of games to read up on and give a try. I am slacking in putting up my game listing but I will get too it, for a while so many games were coming out I couldn't keep up.

Welcome to SSC

Oh and feel free to make an official post in the forums on your game so you can let more people know about it, probably want to post it here: http://spacesimcentral.com/forums/forum/fps-strategy-and-tactical-scifi-games/

Thank you for the welcome!
I actually own the Wing Commander saga and Freelancer (I knew I was forgetting a few). Both really good games; what I was able to play anyway. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to finish them because I started playing them later in life and responsibilities got in the way at the time. I will come back to them in the future though!

Also, I'll be sure to post something about my game soon. Thanks for the suggestion.

Welcome to you cjgamedev and good luck with your own game. I also noticed no mention of any of the Elite games! :o
There is Elite Dangerous of course which I am sure you know about but there is also free games too based on the older games in the series: Oolite, FFE3D (it's around someplace in the download area) and Pioneer. Anyways, have fun! :)
