Good find PinbackYeah it really isn't a game in what we would think but more an educational tool and a bit more if you read this from the site:
Quote:
Persistent immersive synthetic environments in the form of massive multiplayer online gaming and social virtual world, initially popularized as gaming and social settings, are now finding growing interest as education and training venues. There is increasing recognition that these synthetic environments can serve as powerful “hands-on” tools for teaching a range of complex subjects. Virtual worlds with scientifically accurate simulations could permit learners to tinker with chemical reactions in living cells, practice operating and repairing expensive equipment, and experience microgravity, making it easier to grasp complex concepts and transfer this understanding quickly to practical problems. MMOs help players develop and exercise a skill set closely matching the thinking, planning, learning, and technical skills increasingly in demand by employers. These skills include strategic thinking, interpretative analysis, problem solving, plan formulation and execution, team-building and cooperation, and adaptation to rapid change.
I like what they are trying to do with this mmo and will be a really nice things for kids and college students to learn and exercise theories. I wonder if they will actually use all real time data to make moon and mars topographically correct from our satellites?

Played through it. It has some potential, but the demo completely fails to tap it. 25-minute sprint against time to repeat "fix it" on couple of stationary items. Most of the available tools you dont even have use for. Probably would have been fun to muck around in freeform mode a bit more...By the way, how the hell does a power coupler node "go critical" , anyway ?Something like that would have much more interesting appeal if you peeled off all the NASA logos, had a couple of corporations competing to industrialize near earth space and the main asteroid belt. There are lot of cool game dynamics you can build around this, a combination of RTS, RPG and sim elements could be implemented. Its a niche though, so probably wont see an AAA title ...

Fed up with the moon then go to mars in this game, Its not really a game more of a simulation of a mars base where you have perform tasks eat food goto the toilet ect, important safety tip dont go outside without your helmet on. :lol:The demo can be played in single player mode or over the net in multiplayerhttp://www.hyperkat.com/colonyets.html from the same company is VR rover where you control a rover on Mars, you can just drive it around or use a simple programming language to give it commands.http://www.hyperkat.com/virtualbots.html

Quoting myself now <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//haha.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />Just noticed there has been updates to the models available here. Many of the deep space probes are there now and.........the Pioneer Probe model is there too! I think most of the models are in Blender format. That could be handy for some......

looks like some of the old links no longer work, anyone know where they have gone.
