RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
I think I could do that....have any feedback on what the two different forums should be called (ie: Commercial Indie Projects and Free Indie Projects)?

Sound good. You might want to have a root though the Space RPG - RTS - 4x and add any from there or is it best to keep them separate.
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
I will probably make these new forums and merge the 4x, RTS, RPG posts into either the indie sections, gameral space gaming sections or spawn off another forum if the game warrants it. On the others I will create these forums probably tonight/tomorrow and start moving some posts.Free Indie and Open Source Gaming ProjectsCommercial Indie ProjectsGalactic Command OnlineStar Wars: The Old RepublicAnd I have been toying around with a general Mass Effect area as well... anyone have any thoughts on this?
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
sounds good to me. Atm. it is a indeed a bit unclear which game you find where in the subforums.

Thanks Malvoisin, this is the type of feedback I am looking for. I want the forums to make sense and I want it to be generally easy to find what your looking for. I will also look into the forum descriptions and look to editing some that may give doubt to the contents inside that forum area.

Personally I wouldn't move any game into the indy section, unless it really is an indy game. Perhaps the indy sections could also have RTS, 4X ect sub-sections?

Sounds good to split the commercial ones from the free ones. You could perhaps move the stand alone space sims and MMOs into 2 subsections of the space sim gaming section?Perhaps call that Commercial single player games and commercial MMO games? That would free up a lot of space on the main page if that is what your trying to do...

I have been skeptical on doing anything with the RPG/RTS/4x area because it does cover a few areas of games. But on the other had people might have a difficult time deciding on where to post something if they have an indie game but it falls in the rpg/rts/4x realm. That's why I thought about just combining them and really make the indie areas a 'catch all' for all games and just separate by commercial and free/open.

I have thought about this a lot personally. I guess I would need more feedback on that before I just do it. Yeah people can see all the subforum listsings under the forum heading. In a way I am trying to consolidate but also make it easier for people to post in the correct area and be able to find things with ease. I lay everything out on one page right now so people can see what is out or coming to make games a little more noticeable. Maybe I could have a 'Featured Games' area where I pull out fan favorites to get some special attention. Not sure overall but I am definitely open for discussing it. Because all I want is for the people that use SSC to have a easy time finding what they need. And if people like/don't like the layout to please speak up. I am definitely not a web designing guru so I make changes because of feedback.

The only time I have ever really had confusion here is lets say your looking for a forum that is actually in its own section and sometimes you might look in the general sections first before finding it in its own section, but its really minimal confusion :)Have you ever thought about having a mobile version of the site, which would just be a totally stripped down version for phones, many sites have them and its handy for when your on the move. :)If you want an example of a site that uses this, well off the top of my head I know that the Dwarf Fortress site has this.

The tapatalk integration is installed here and you should be able to get the app for apple/android. There was another mod I was looking at that is in development that looks very promising here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=2091769Only thing is that it will only process the forums and nothing else on the website. Still contemplating getting the vbulletin publisher edition as well. I won't make that choice until the summer or shortly after. I know right now my immediate changes is the wiki and possible domain move because 1and1 hosting isn't giving me everything I would like in a host. I would love nightly backups and bigger mysql database allotment.

Have any opinions on how the forums should look? Because I have thought about just making a couple categories and then nesting the forums into those areas as subforums. to clean it up and not make the forum list so long. But in a way having the list does make it a bit quicker to find your game, least in theory.

Cool that sounds good, only Im Android-less for at least another 6 months until I can get out of my bloody contract
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
i just wanted to say i love the new design of the main page
Great work!
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
Thanks GrimmI spent a few hours last night trying to set it up and doesn't look to bad for a WP newb like me. Some things I still want to do or try to figure out to do:- Change header font (title) to SSC's font 'backlash'- Maybe play with backgrounds to see if I can give it an outer space or gaming feel- Work on colors for the page (a bit darker) and border lines - Would like to widen the theme about 100-150px- Figure out a way to display a random screenshot from gallery- And of course work on blog content

Hi Darkone! I still love the site, even more so since the upgrade. Looks Great but have one minor suggestion. On the Forum Page can you remove the (site links:) tag at the beginning,or better yet put a regular menu bar in its place. It somehow just doesn't look right. Did I mention ? I Love your site !
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
Thanks for the feedback VinhDucanhI haven't put too much effort into the styling in the forums because I have still be contemplating the purchase of a site wide style for SSC but it would cost me about $100 so I just haven't done it yet because people haven't given me to much feedback on it. (http://www.spacesimcentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2299)I'll see what I can come up with. Usually its sometimes tough finding a mod for menus that goes good with the style itself. Maybe I will try to edit the background to the logo and see if I can add a menu bar to that? I will have to play around and see what I can come up with, but I have to play and write up a review first for Star Ruler and then I will tackle this unless I find an easy fix of course.
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
Added the new menu bar and removed the old, also edited the search page to remove the google search.
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
Looks like theirs a graphic problem with the menu bar, theirs black dots in the words.
RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions
I notice when I hit Ctrl-F5 it display's like it should for me. I will try flushing all of the cached images and things when I get home to see if that fixes the problem for people?

That did the trick.Never new about that CTRL+F5 before.

What that does is force a reload of a website's pages and graphics. Most of the time your web browser caches all the images and just display's it even know there is something new. You can either tell your browser to not cache or always load pages. But as long as the website itself dumps its own cache it should fix itself after a few moments or next visit.I will add more options to the menu this weekend when I get a moment to have it match the mainpage.
