After how many shields a Shield Energy Booster useful?

After how many shields a Shield Energy Booster useful?

My ship has 4 shields, is a Shield Energy Booster better than a 5th shield? If not, at what # of shields would it start being better, for example 7 shields + shield booster better than 8 shields?
Sorry if something similar was already answered but I couldn't find it.
