halcyon sun sale: JUMP ON IT!

Post by starlord »

Hi to all space sim fans:I just stumbled on this lately: sun is one of the least known space sims out there, yet I can assure you (since I tested it) that it is really worthy of your time. And since this is also one of the scarciest sims in CD version (originally it was released episodically on the internet, but support quickly faltered. It was then re released very briefly in retail format days before brightstar games went down) I would urge you to secure that one quickly.the prize will go with the first to see this I guess. Best of luck to all.salutations.starlord.P.S: While you are there, I would also recommend "drift: when worlds collide" know I got both together and was very pleased with both.enjoy! :)

No that's precisely it comas: the one and only halcyon sun, remade for retail just prior it's fall in oblivion on the internet... it's exactly the same as the internet based one, except it comes with all the episodes and speech in one package.the same story of dru avery and the carolan/eridani against the nolledah republic and... something else  for you to enjoy!

One of them would probably be the way your ships (fighters) handle in combat and the rates of fire.Plot wise (as far, as I can tell) there aren't many resemblances except the hand looks so far equivalent in military terms to the nolledah republic. However, we can't be sure yet. ;)

Indeed! Considering you can find the gem in question.Curiously, the german version (raumshiff: halcyon sun) seems to be far less scarce...

I have one problem with German version of Halcyon Sun. I can't turn on subtitles for cut-scenes (hmmm very LONG cut-scenes). I think this game was bad prepared, and someone has forgot compress subtitles, because format of English subtitles is compressed by unknown method. When i've substituted English subtitles into German version it works. But my goals is to have German subtitles. Can somebody help me?

I'm afraid I really, really couldn't get on with Halcyon Sun. I remember I purchased it around the same time as Tachyon: The Fringe, and played Tachyon first. When I tried to play Halcyon, it just seemed so amateurish and cheap in comparison to the slick presentation and gameplay in Tachyon. I gave up a short way into the game....maybe it would have got better if I'd stuck with it, and maybe the plot etc. would have made me like it more. But I've never had the urge to play it again.Of course, no offense to anyone who really likes it! Just my opinion :)auryx

Actually the game's hugely unforgiving! :x quite hard when you are getting into it! especially if you compare this to the fringe! :D

I found this online when surfing the web and I too found that it was free at one time, so I guess the version I have cannot be posted on SSC since it is still being sold. This is such a grey area sometimes since I found it on a abandoneware website. As far as I can tell this was only released in Europe that I can tell. And Amazon sells this for like $50, don't think they are selling a lot of those.
