Sins of a Solar Empire

Post by Onionman77 »

I'm a huge fan of Sins of a Solar Empire. I did a quick search, and couldn't find any dedicated threads on the game. Anyone else here play it? I love imagining I'm on of the crew on board one of those capitol ships or something. Excellent space strategy game.

My thoughts exactly :)I used to play this game a lot. Outstanding graphics. Actually, now that you reminded me about it, I think I may play it again tomorrow, but I don't remember if it has a campaign mode ... ?

I have actually never played this game but have wanted to, I will have to make it a point to pick it up when I see the collection on sale again of the digital download sites. Believe the next expansion is going to be a standalone game so in a way it is like a sequel...[gametrailers]http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gdc-11-sins-of-a/712557[/gametrailers]

Yea there's no campaign, which is a shame because they had a pretty good story I wish they had expanded upon. The most fun in the game is from playing the random maps, in my opinion, the premade ones have solar systems that are way too clean cut.And playing the game is tough to get into. The best you can do is just play a game, eventually you'll learn :/

Screenshots look good and they look like they have improved the lighting. Doesn't look like they changed much of the backgrounds.

Yea it looks like they added some shaders. But I don't care about the lighting, I just want my army of only Titan-class ships. You know you want it too.

Wow those shots do look good and kinda has a EVE Online look and feel with the back drops. Hope they package this all up in one game package so I can buy it all at one time. Haven't played any of these yet.

I know that it's definitely a stand-alone game. From the screenshots it looks to be so far ahead of the original I'd call it good enough to be a sequel.
