Shallow Space Economy

How should it work? I took the liberty of making this thread since the newsletter said to come here to discuss it but I found no thread about it So, discuss I guess. I have a formed opinion on how it should work. For one I don't like battlefield economy for the sake of it, but if done right and/or fitting to lore it can be really interesting, fun and challenging. On the grand campaign map level I would like to see a more natural economy, with the commissioning of ships and mustering of fleets before the battle like it happen on games like total war, empire at war and others. On the skirmish side of the deal battlefield economy obviously becomes a need. I'll try to refrain on making another wall of text like I did on the Base building or Mothership? thread so I'll cut it here for now.
