To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hey guys,

I'm part of a marketing effort for the game Free Allegiance. We're posting to some forums that we feel might have some folks that would be interested in our game.

First, Allegiance is completely free (see http://news.freeallegiance.org/freeallegia...it-really-free/ for more info). Second, it was originally developed my Microsoft, so it's not a home grown game. MS opened the source code and we've been continuing development and improvements (our community rocks).

So, now that you know Alleg doesn't suck off the bat, let me tell you what it is (really quickly):

Allegiance is a 3D space combat simulator which has a lot of real time strategy. Two teams battle it out in the depths of space, led by a single commander. Vast conflicts are waged between squadrons of pilots in an attempt to secure the scarce resources needed to build new space stations and unlock new technologies. As a pilot you can fly dozens of different ships mounting a large number of devastating weapons, working with your teammates to achieve your commander's orders. Or you can lead a mutiny! After all, unlike the troops in a traditional real time strategy, You are not a mindless drone. And neither is any other unit on the battlefield.

If you want to see some screenies of the gameplay, check http://news.freeallegiance.org/screenshots . You can check out some gameplay video at our YouTube Channel ( http://www.youtube.com/freeallegiance ). Check out the Allegiance Sports Podcast at http://allegiance.fragfest.net . Oh, and you should know that we have a STRONG international community (meaning we have players AND SERVERS in the US and EU; we're working on AU).

Be warned, Allegiance is addictive and you'll find plenty of players there that have been playing for years. You'll also find a strong squad based competitive play system and some really entertaining people. Make sure to install TeamSpeak 2 (not TS3: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads&archive=1 ) and join us on our TS server (ts.alleg.net).

When you install Allegiance, you'll want to make sure you have the DirectX 9.0c runtime installed, found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en .

If you decide to try us out, let us know how it goes for you! Join our forums (greatest HelpLine on Earth lives there), the IRC channels (Quakenet #freeallegiance) or just post back here.

So, ready to give Allegiance a shot? Visit us at http://www.freeallegiance.org or just go straight to the downloads at http://www.freeallegiance.org/downloads (don't forget the DirectX 9.0c install mentioned earlier!).

I'm RedLion@ACE (squad Wildcards), and I'll see you in game!
