Welcome to SpaceSimCentral.com
It was a daring move to follow those weak comm signals out this far into space, but you lucked out. You have found SpaceSimCentral, a station that has been tucked away for some time at the edges of our galaxy where only the brave and adventurous travelers dare to go to seek fame and fortune. SpaceSimCentral is one of the last stops before you set off on new adventures in the vastness of deep space. We do get many travelers that tell great tales of merchandise and even things you can get for free if you know where to look. So, finish docking your ship and check-in your valuables and spend some time chatting with the locals on the station and maybe you will discover something you have been waiting a whole lifetime to find.
Enough of the intro, I'm DarkOne the Admin of SpaceSimCentral and we have been around a few years and are striving to become a great source of news, lore and a file repository for your favorite and upcoming space/scifi gaming titles. I have always tried very hard to make SSC a community where both developers and gamers can discuss what they want to see in games and developers can show off what they are working on and get honest feedback from gamers first hand. To all of the developers out there, SSC has always been very accommodating to developers in that we give them free forum space here on SSC to discuss their games with the public. There are quite a few projects going on here at SSC so you might as well join in on the fun as well.
So have fun exploring SSC, the site is going through some major changes and will probably continue to change for the coming months. But this is for the good and I look forward to peoples opinions on what they think and with any luck I can get some members to write up some articles and blogs about their favorite games so I don't have to do all the work. So checkout what SSC has to offer and do register and let us know of any new games or help us out with locating old mods/patches. Enjoy the community and see you in the forums.

I took it upon myself to create a group dedicated to Pioneer on deviantArt, which can be found here -http://pioneerspacesim.deviantart.com - of course, there is no artwork on there at this minute, but I am sure we have some artists in our community who would be willing to contribute, so please, join and submit!
Firstly, we need an icon however, so, please post any ideas below.

Interesting game for your phone http://outtheregame.com/ been described as a slower paced FTL without the enemy chasing you, any one played it?.
Pity their is no PC version of the game.
Just thought I would share this with you guys the guys behind the HTML5 MMO Illyriad are making a WebGL based game called Age of Ascent.
They are aiming for a world record attempt on Friday the 14th of 2014.
You can find more about the game here as well as their aspirations here from a recent live stream.
If you are more into reading go here.
Anyway - If you want to participate in setting a world record go here on 3/14/14 with a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 11).
See you in the verse!
New demo up for Ceres for those willing to give it a try
for Linux and Windows
Another update for you here, while not set in stone and may change, I can start to give a good estimation of the final system requirements, I will update this post as new information becomes available.
CPU - Dual Core
Ram - Win7 3GB - WinXP 2GB
Hard drive - 1GB
Graphics card - Minimum 512mb SM2.0 - Recommended 1GB SM3.0
Resolution - Minimum 1028 x 720
It means it should run on any windows PC made in the last 7 years apart from those with an 800x600 resolution screen.

I got very excited when I saw this! I'd love to see Homeworld show those pansies what REAL strategy gaming is like.
Update from Kickstarter that they have been fully funded and from their blog below http://ninedotsstudi...ur-new-partner/
Great news today!
It was finally announced publicly that we will be partnering up with Bandai Namco for GoD Factory: Wingmen!
Since November last year, we’ve been in ongoing negotiations with publishers. While we wished we could have done everything by ourselves, we were lacking the funds to guarantee that GoD Factory: Wingmen would live up to the vision we had for it.
I’ve been vocal about my reluctance regarding publishers. I still think that the best route, when it is possible, is to self-publish to ensure that the developers are reaping the rewards of their work. However, what we’ve learned throughout the years is that it’s much easier to be independent when you already have a following behind you. To build a large enough community to support a company takes time, dedication and a bit of luck. We want GoD Factory to reach its audience, and clearly we didn’t have the tools for that, as demonstrated by our kickstarter campaigns. Dealing with a publisher was thus the most viable option to both get the funds to finish the game and reach the audience that would be interested in it.
We’ve declined offers for which we didn’t like the terms, even when large amounts of cash were on the table. The deal we came up with Bandai Namco, quite frankly, what we imagined as a best case scenario. They’ve even shown some great support to our cause to reduce crunch time and other bad management practices and tailored part of the agreement around that. We made sure that we were in a win-win situation and ultimately, the biggest winners are our players. We won’t need to go through early access on Steam to reach a polished version of the game. We will have much better means to populate our servers and ensure you have a large user base to play with. We’ll have better means to offer customer support if something goes wrong. The game will get tested by a professional QA department before you get your hands on the finished product.
I wouldn’t have imagined that I would have signed a deal with such a behemoth when I founded the studio three years ago, but I’m very excited by this turn of events and can’t wait to see what’s next for Nine Dots Studio.
Coming up soon: announcement regarding the public beta
Just noticed this has been greenlit on Steam http://steamcommunit...s/?id=137643526 not much on the game apart from it will use Rift.
-Oculus Rift compatible!
-Experience strange new places in the cosmos using the Oculus Rift or your regular computer monitor.
-The game is semi non-linear after making a jump you arrive in a solar system you can warp to different places in that solar system exploring and looking for those energy asteroids.
-Some areas in space are dangerous because of events that happen. Like super nova's, black holes, massive solar flares, cosmic collisions, gravity, and ancient technologies from civilizations long past like dangerous mines, and drones.
-Avoid and destroy asteroids to collect crystal energy fragments to make the next jump.
-Explore caves in asteroids while looking for deposits of energy crystals.
-Collect ancient artifacts.
-Discover asteroids with lots of different minerals like gold, ruby, copper, ice, and many more.
-Much more to come! We just started making this February 2013!
-Contact with new civilizations.
-Strange artifacts, stations, ships, drones and, civilizations of all kinds.
dangers from many different civilizations.
-Much more will be add closer to launch date. So check back!
Couple of short videos about it.

I will be posting an update on kickstarter as soon as I have more to show, however I thought you guys might like a sneak peak at the updated terrain, the map itself has been enlarged so you can fit more buildings on and gives a slightly better representation of size (mind the actual space of each map is far too big to represent in full scale as the large maps are 100's km) however as you get close up (each pixel of the main texture represents 100m so would be extremely blurry) a detail map gets applied over the main terrain texture (actually 2, a medium and fine detail), picking up the colour of the terrain and applies it to itself, it helps to create a better sense of scale and starts making each building feel bigger.

As promised, here is a quick summary of Ascent - The Space Game, where it's up to, and what's next.
I've been developing Ascent for almost a year full time now and it's fast approaching a PC version release on desura.com. It is available to play through the Unity3D web player at our website, http://www.thespacegame.com/
So far the completed features include:
- Space combat - manual control fighter to fighter dogfighting, scales up to big ship broadside duels - in space!
- Farming and mining on planet surfaces - players can build their own planetary bases for resource harvesting. City simulation style play.
- Personal starbase construction - players can construct their own starbase to their own design. This becomes your home in space, and your centre for heavy zero-g manufacturing and research
- Trading - dynamic local NPC markets, player to player global market
- Dynamic NPC mission system - combat, trade (supply/demand), passenger transport, courier and salvage missions
- Asteroid mining - manual control of ship and axial mining beam. Player and character skill based.
- Research - blueprint fragments attainable from salvage missions allow the player to research forgotten and new ships and components, as well as enhancements to their buildings
- Manufacturing - every ship, weapon and utility module in the game can be manufactured by players and sold or used to customise their ships (which can also be given a custom paint scheme)
- Gas giant harvesting. (because sometimes you need things like hydrogen and oxygen!)
- More than 200 billion solar systems (not a typo!). This is now live for exploration - we are now in the process of adding planetary settlement and starbase construction features to these new systems
- EVA (land, get out and walk/run around in an EVA suit)
- Advanced exploration now under development - you can take and analyse soil samples and core samples, next stage is core sampling drones for grid data and then settlements on the new systems
We have a greenlight campaign going, need a few thousand more votes to get it over the line.
Video and some screenshots are on the front page of the website. Actually I really should update those screenies they're a bit dated now.

Space Nerds In Space is a multiplayer networked starship bridge simulator that I've been working on for the past year and a bit. The idea is, you get several players together in a room with several networked computers. One computer acts as the game server, running the simualtion. One computer acts as the main screen, projected on a large display, and other computers act as individual bridge stations -- navigation, weapons, science, engineering, communications, etc. Multiple bridge crews playing in the same universe, either cooperatively or combatively are possible.
The game is open source, GPLv2 for the code, various CC licenses for the art assets. The game is written in C, for linux, should also run on Mac, and maybe FreeBSD. A windows port should not be too difficult, but I'm not a windows programmer.
Here's the latest development video:

Hi I am playing FFED3D and there is no sound. I have checked that the sound files are in the directories (appears to be the same files as in the shareware version).
I have also tried all combinations of settings in the config file for sound (softsynth=1 etc).
Is there a specific directory path I have to have the game installed to? At the moment it is in C:\FFED3D

In very early stages: http://spiderworm.gi....io/spatial-ui/ (Chrome recommended)
What is it?
A starship bridge simulator, where you and a group of friends (or enemies, if you prefer) will take control of the bridge on a major starship, working together to complete combat and exploration missions in a variety of space vessels, both primitive and advanced.
When will it be ready?
We hope to have a simple mission or two ready to play by Summer 2014. We will continue adding features and missions hopefully for years to come.
Is it moddable?
Absolutely. Developers will be able to create mods, which are also known as "stories". Stories are server side, and all resources for the story (including models, textures, sounds) are stored service side and delivered to the client on an JIT basis. This allows for clients to connect to stories of all types and allows the story writer to be wildly creative. It also allows for persistant stories, where you could have a role (security, helm, weapons, engineering, captain, whatever) on a starship for years, with new adventures being added by a Game Master in real-time.
I work on the client, and my good friend glikker is working on the server. His code so far is at: https://github.com/glikker/starsim . We'll be providing detailed modding information in the near future.
