To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

So this is a topic that I will post in to put confirmed updates.

 

These are things that were not in the android version and have been put into the game.

 

So to start things off.

 

Micro-Meteor showers - Do damage to buildings

 

Building damage system - Building receive damage from age as well as natural disasters.

 

Repair Ship - A ship that repairs the damage to buildings.

 

Repair Ship Fuel - Repair ships have limited fuel and have to return to base to refuel.

 

Repair Ship Experience - Repair ships will get better (the crew) at repairing buildings and will reduce the time they require to need to repair a set amount of damage.

 

Repair Ship Upgrade - Repair ships can be upgraded to reduce the costs incurred while repairing a building.

 

Shadows - each building will cast their own shadows.

 

Depth Of Field - Makes the background looks nicer

 

More involved colonists interactions - You will have a lot more options for dealing with colonists including health, happiness, law, science skill and work skill

 

 

 


 

Implemented but may not make the final cut

 

Rocks - small rocks have been added to the surface to add more detail - this may not look great so may be removed.

Confirmed fixes and updates for colonisation moonbase 0.1.1a

 

This lot is mostly a bunch of fixes but some new features too.

 

Fix:

directing the right repair ship no longer breaks the game.

Pressing the purchase button should now work 100%

You should no longer be able to accidentally place your building in the distance when trying to click the purchase button.

UI counters now form on the right. - there is no upper limit to them so it may end up overlapping? - will either have to insert a maximum limit to all resources, even if you have the storage to do so, or put them back to center alignment.

After pressing the info button on buildings the extra UI re-appears.

You should no longer be able to break the game while doing other stuff on your computer, as soon as the game window isn't in focus it should pause the game (wont have pause on the screen but wont continue till you re-select it)

Tourist center should no longer disappear.

symbols replace words at the top

Repair ships should no longer break:

  • Performance improvement (side effect actually!)
  • Only 1 should ever go fix a particular building at the same time, unless directed to by the player.
  • Should no longer go up and down after refueling and waiting for the next building to repair
  • Repair ships are now a different colour to civilian ships so it is easier to distinguish them from each other (temporary fix)

Small performance increase throughout the game when accessing information and loading.

No kickstarter message every 20 min

Pressing cancel after selecting a repair ship to repair a specific building no longer keeps the cancel button on screen.

Finally fixed the map background blur! hoping that the performance isn't hit by the fix.

 

 

New features

Camera rotation is now done by the right mouse button.

Pressing escape no longer quits the game, instead it is paused, there isn't a menu at the moment and you can still move around, to un-pause the game simply press escape again to continue.

Pressing escape in menus will go back a menu, you can't pause the game while in a menu.

New icon ready for the new fuel resource.

Repair ships will move at half the speed when out of fuel.

When you are out of resources buildings will now shut down to sustain other parts of the base. - before you got a percentage of research points dependent on your negative income amount, an easier situation to manage left over from the android version.

Ground work done for player- prioritised type of build shut down order when resources are low, currently research is prioritised first until the UI is implemented for this feature.

Ground work done for percentage levels of resources to start shutting down non essential buildings, meaning the player can define a percentage of resources to storage capabilities at where the auto-shut down will start to occur. 

The beginning of colonist management, you will no longer simply be 'given' colonists, you will have to hire them and look after them, bringing in more of the dangers of space colonisation

 

Improvements.

Performance in several areas

Better handling of low/no resources.

Ground work done to add more features regarding colonists, their happiness, how to obtain them and other affecting factors adding more to the dangers and risks involved in a lunar colony.

Ground work done for more features for trade and story integration.

 

Other.

More story has been made and will form a chapter/level story that most games have, each map you play will contribute to each other with resources but will also continue the story, you do not have to play them in any order the story will follow naturally. (there is still only 2 maps to choose from, both having the same terrain)

 

Bug database setup for bug entry to help with development! this will be open to everyone and is more secure than the current google-docs setup.
