To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I can see why the EVE fanbase is a little irritated about this. But if CCP is going to eventually add micro-transactions to EVE then they either needs to reduce the monthly fee or do away with it entirely. I liked the fact that Dust514 is going to be F2P besides the micro-transaction store and the purchase of the game. I guess the question that needs to be answered is can you play Dust514 without spending money? I know the model behind it is that you will need ISK to outfit yourself and teams for battle and you will get the majority of the ISK for this from the EVE Online players and from the previous outcomes of battles.

So if your on the winning side you could possibly play without spending real money maybe? We will just need to see. But if CCP is offering items in their store that you can eventually earn by playing I don't care that they have the store at all. If people want to spend their money to get these items quicker than so be it. People have to understand that probably every MMO will eventually go to this model of payment because monthly fee MMO's seem to die off quickly these days with people constantly jumping from game to game.

This Eve thing is starting to get surreal, this is a quote from Eve senior producer Arnar Gylfason as reported by RPS.

Quote:
“People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand?“

You have wonder if CCP have become lost in there own VR world.

I think PSN Home does an ok job with clothes and such, they change usually .00 to $2.00 for something and it is then available for all avatars. But developers have to know that these items are only digital and are no longer usable when game has ended. There has been several articles popping up about this issue and the EVE crowd is getting a little agitated about this whole issue.

We'll see. It would be nice to see CCP really tightly integrate EVE and Dust514 together and if done right it could prove a huge success for them. Like in that 'Future' video that has been linked in when you could communicate with the PC players and coordinate strategies.
