To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Galactic Wars

Looks like an RTS looking for $40K and as usual more details on the Kickstarter page.  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2077931279/galactic-wars?ref=live

Website http://www.mobilehead.net/ which oddly has no mention the game at all, maybe they should have updated the website before starting the Kickstarter.

Before we go on to talk about the exciting part, a little about us here at Mobilehead:

Mobilehead has been around the since 2008. We were primarily a work-for-hire development studio, and experienced growing pains and ups and downs as a game studio. In 2010, between projects, we started to do our own publishing. That was a rough go! We didn't have enough time to create a great game and didn't have enough marketing dollars to drive downloads for the games we were creating. So we moved back into work-for-hire projects to regroup and earn a steady paycheck.

...Which brings us to "Galactic Wars"

"Galactic Wars" was conceived as a "be-all" project, something we really wanted to build in 2008--one of the awesome projects that a newly-minted studio like Mobilehead dreams of creating. It was going to be our grand flagship and lead to a universe of great games. And then the economy crumbled, reality hit, and things got shoved onto the back burner while we scrambled to stay alive. Well...we're alive! We survived the crash and in the process we developed even more experience in game design and creation.  --including beefing up the original Galactic Wars story, adding new technology, gadgets and gizmos, and spiffing it all up in some really cool new ways (sometimes waiting makes things better!). Now what we need is time. And time = $

That's where we need your help, Kickstarters! We need 6 months to finish this project! 6 months, so we can hold off on taking new projects and concentrate on bringing "Galactic Wars" to life!

Genre and Target Platforms: Galactic Wars will be a real time fleet battle game for the PC Game. Our stretch goals will also include iOS/Android/Web versions as well.

"Galactic Wars" is a space fleet game where the player controls their own planetary faction and builds up a fleet, recruits and trains heroes, and battles against other factions for galactic dominance. Our focus is mainly fleet battles using real-time strategy to control your ships and attack your enemies.

Outside of battle, you'll be using strategy on a galactic scale to position fleets, reinforce strongholds,  upgrade your fleet in varying ways to utilize different strategies and weapon configurations, send diplomatic ambassadors to forge alliances with other planetary systems, or invade and blockade other players systems and dominate them!

So what is Galactic Wars? Think of the detailed, rich universe of "Wing Commander," with the galaxy management and strategy of "Star Wars: Empire at War," mixed with the real-time strategy battle game play of "Homeworld."
