To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Game: Pioneer

Developer: ThePhorse

Website: http://www.thephorse.net/pioneer/

Cost: around $7-8

I found this game today when surfing the net and gave it about 30-40mins of my time. You will play in demo mode until you have purchased the full version. As far as I know the game was released on 2/1/2009. The game is a top down space shooter/rpg.

General story, you were in a battle and your ship was heavily damaged and your ships computer put you in hibernation and you are awoke 300 years later with some memory loss and your race (Pioneer's) are long lost and you have to work with other races and fight pirates to find out about the upcoming threat to the universe.

This is my own opinions you will have to download the game and check it out for yourself. I will rate certain areas with 1 - 10 rating with 10 being the best. And remember this isn't a $50 game it is around $7.

Gfx - 8 (for the style of game and hey I was getting 900 FPS when playing and plenty of screen resolutions)

Snd - 7 (Snd overall is good)

Story - 8 (from what I was exposed to in the demo the story seems compelling)

Controls - 6 (would like some more control options like reverse thrusters)

System Specs to play the game:

1.6ghz processor

ATI Radeon 9600 or above / Geforce 6600 or above

2gb RAM

win2000/XP/Vista (sometimes you can't get up to date ATI/Geforce drivers for Win2000)

100mb spare hard disc space

I think I ran into an issue in demo mode not sure. I warped into Sector 2 and I couldn't seem to get out. All I can do is mine asteriods and I cannot find a jumpgate? Am I missing something?

Hey there!

Thanks for the preview scores 🙂

About the sector 2 part - once you reach sector 2 you should have received a few messages from your onboard computer asking you to talk to him. If you saved it when you're in sector 2, press "C" to talk to your computer and the story should continue!

A good hint is to always check the comm log if you're stuck and don't know what to do next (When you press Escape for the save/load stuff there is a tab for this)

Also, unfortunately the price has been increased to about $15, however I would be happy to offer a discount to any SpaceSimCentral users for a limited time if there was any interest? Obviously if there are any other questions feel free to throw them at me here!

The demo is pretty huge by the way - you're not halfway through it yet 😉
