To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Dark Ore was released by Raylogic a few years back but never really hit it big like some of the other space games. In Dark Ore you create a mining station and your goal is to build upon your station while defending it with your fighter and you station defenses.
Starlord has work hard with the CEO of Raylogic to get Dark Ore released to freeware and he has done it and it is available to download. So try it out and let us know what you think. Thanks Starlord for the hard work on getting this title released for everyone to enjoy.

Starlord knows of a lot forgotten space sims. 😀 Well Done. 😀 😀
How do I get the registration thing to work? Softwrap Loader only has options for the 2 hour demo, or to pay $19 to register.
Hi Firelizard
You are correct there was a issue with the packaged instructions. I got this working and here is what you have to do:
1. Install Dark Ore (default location is fine)
2. Extract the Softwrap loader and copy the software loader.exe and softwrap loader.ini to the Dark Ore install directory
3. Verify that the Softwrap Loader.ini file has the correct path.
4. Launch Softwrap Loader.exe and have fun 🙂
I will put this in the download notes too.
Could someone, please, explain to me, how to get the drill to work?
I deploy it, I point it at a rock, I hit num-enter to activate it, and the bit takes one jab at the rock and just stops.
Also, is there any way to slow the pirate attacks long enough for me to actually figure out how this friggin drill works?
I know pressing F1 brings up a help screen but that doesn't actually tell you how to do certain things I will try to poke around with it in my spare time and see what I can figure out if people are still having issues.
I recieved a reply from ken stating he'll try to compile a readme for the game next week end. This should sort some things out.
Feeling a bit old and maybe dim-witted, but how exactly do you save a game??
I've "f1'd" the title screen and the in-game screen and god knows, pressed a lot of buttons... does anyone know?
At last, all dark ore testers rejoice. ken has supplied the game's help files (many thanks to him) enabling you all to delve into the game's commands. Those 2 .txt files are available here:

Enjoy!
starlord.
Thanks for the work Starlord for this update on Dark Ore. I have uploaded the files here to this post and will add it to the download in the next few days.
hi, I will report that this Dark Ore link is broken.
Yeah there is a few of the older files that are missing because of the download area file corruption. I have been reaching out to the community for any copies they might have of these games to get them re-uploaded.
