To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hello folks
Long time lurker on the site, but just made an account so I could post something which some of you may find fun.
This is a rearrangement/reinterpretation of the main theme from Frontier Elite 2 that I recently finished writing.
Hope you like it. 🙂

Thanks
Hi Jamie, haven't I saw you in the Frontier forum? I know I have visited your page before. Anyways, yes the Frontier Theme, its got Star Wars bits, its got Star Trek bits and of course Frontier bits. Yes I like it! You should post it on the Frontier forum too if you haven't already. Follow up track Portrait Of A Girl was nice too.
Hello Geraldine
Yes! In fact I already did post it in the Frontier forums, and you didn't see it, and that makes me sad. 🙁
;(
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hehe - yeah it inevitably takes some inspiration from the great scores of old, but there are no direct quotes (I hope!!)
The only material I directly reference other than the Frontier theme, is a bit of The Blue Danube - did you spot it?
Anyway, glad you like it!
Feel free to comment on it in the Frontier forum - so as to give it a bit of a bump! 😉
Thanks
Welcome to the forum Jamieboo, nice arrangement 😎 I too could hear a bit of Star Trek the motion picture theme but it maybe what the original was based on.
Ah Star Trek The Motion Picture by the great Jerry Goldsmith - one of my faves!
I'm making no conscious reference to any of his themes there, but some of the chord progressions are very much the kind of thing Goldsmith used - also ethereal arpeggios with augmented fifths at the top! (eg 'Floating Office' from The Motion Picture). Love it!
Thanks for having a listen!
Dont feel bad Jamie, as a mod I have to look at 100s of posts a day over there and sometimes my memory can play tricks. I have since seen your post and indeed the peeps like it over there too.
Hehe - I don't really feel bad Geraldine, I was just being a silly buffoon! But thank you!
Yeah, people do seem to like to over there too, which is lovely.
I'm reasonably happy with it myself, though I did find it much less creatively satisfying than composing my own piece from scratch - especially because, apart from it's nostalgic component, I do find the original theme rather bland.
But that I suppose was the fun part: writing complex orchestrations and tinkering with the chord progressions in an attempt to give it a more symphonic feel.
Blah, I'm rambling.
Thanks for listening. 🙂
