To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Solar system Burroughsian Civilization game anyone?

The thread about the incoming John Carter of Mars Disney movie coming soon wake up a long forgot dream: a civilization V (or IV BTS) game with all the solar system as a playing field and a Burroughsian or Burroughsian-like setting.

Also Space 1889 can be a good base for that but an entirely new one will work also: the bases are there: The Mars channels, the cloudy and jungly Venus, the cavernous Moon etc.etc.

Anyone else has/had a similar dream?

Can't say that I have, but sounds interesting. Wonder if one of the free civ style games could be modded into this vision of yours?

Only played the computer game of 1889 but the Victorian steampunk setting is always popular.

I have the hunch that to do a game like this a good level of graphics will be needed to pull it off.

Martian architecture, Venusian ecosystem, there has to be a good visual implementation to give the feeling of the expanded playground.

Are there CIV V or IV Burroughsian Mars mods?
