To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

There are a few SP mods out there for freelancer and the tough part is finding them all because either the mods are lost or mis-labeled and they are a MP mod with SP or open SP abilities. I want to try to gather them all for all the SP fands out there. So do post links to the files and I will get them in the download area or you can upload them yourself. Just check the download area to make sure there not already there.

I believe the following are all SP mods or least have Open SP that are already in the download area:

Itano Circus v1.0

The Order Mod v56.64 SP

Freelancer Advanced v0.75c

Broken Oath v1.2

BigDaddy StoryLine Mod

Frontier Space v1.75

Privateer: The Reckoning v4.65

Phoenix Mod v1.04

Wing Commander FL v2.7

Crossfire is SP too.

You can play it in MP but SP also.It makes the storyline more challenging.

Yep. Crossfire 1.8 went into public beta at the beginning of this month, and it is outstanding. It is a huge improvement over Crossfire 1.7 and easily the most fun and creative of the mods that I have tried (although I certainly have not tried them all).

It adds a Mission 14, many new systems, bases, surprises, and ships; new bar music in some systems; and at least one puzzle that goes beyond the end of the storyline. (Plus a great new uniform for Juni. 😉 )

I get the impression that the Crossfire team is still hosting 1.8 only on their server, presumably because of the beta status:

New uniform for Juni ?! That sparked my imagination 😆 I agree about Crossfire, it does add a lot of cool content.

Luckily, you'll need less imagination when you see it. 😉

Actually, there are two new uniforms for Juni, depending on your tastes. And Trent gets a makeover, as well, but Juni's uniforms are better.

Yeah, Crossfire 1.8 is as close to a real "expansion pack" (for single player FL) as we are likely to get.

I have had some of the funniest experiences in Crossfire. The surprises are spread out, so it takes some exploring, but there have been some very funny moments. For my tastes, it is worth playing just for Mission 14 -- and there is more beyond that. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary), of course!

The only thing that Freelancer modders have not mastered is making new cut scenes, but the Crossfire team figured out a way to add "story line" content without cut scenes, by using the rumor and news systems.

It would be awesome if their work inspires others to add new puzzles in a similar fashion.

BTW, SolCommand, one weak spot in Crossfire is that most of their ships look like they were designed by programmers rather than artists. They could benefit from your 3-D modeling expertise!

Can you get HardCMP to work? (It will not run on my PC). If you can create finished .CMPs, I can show you how to script them into the game (assuming, of course, that you have interest in that).

Freelancer Advanced has been updated to v 0.77 and it's both MP & SP not just SP. It's always been an MP mod. It runs on FlyByU's server.

You can check the link to the forum for the latest version running on the server now. It' not just SP.

This is no more and if you do find the mods, there is non longer any server for it. SP is about all you get anymore.

However, I do have the FLADV v. 0.75 and was allowed to run it server side with the permissions of FBU and when I'm set back up as I once used to be, I will be planning to run it on a server once again. In my opinion, this was his best ever mod for an Advanced 1.0 mod with both SP and Multiplayer.

You will not find the server side for this mod even if you do download the client side for I am the only one privy to the server side of it. I will install it when the time comes for those that still enjoy the simplicity of Freelancer with a few adjustments to make it more exciting.

FBU has always been able to modify Freelancer and stay within it's original story for SP. On the server, he has made an effort to make it most exciting than many others have been able to do and his additions work as they should. Many have tried to use some of his mechanics in their mods but for those I've tested, they just can't seem to get them to function as he does.

I give FBU a lot of credit and look down to many that only wanted to play the SP part of any of his mods or, take them apart to try and add them to their mod without giving his server a shot just to see how they are supposed to work in a Multiplayer atmosphere.
