To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

You lucky devil Gernot! Those pictures are great! Loved the biplane too. 😉
😯 What was it like to sit in?
Perhaps a "space fairing" version for Pioneer?????????????
erm, uncomfortable and hard 😉
very little space,
but very pleasing.
yeah, cool like back when i was a child when they let us sit in a scrapped venom.
i expected this question and have made some detail shots. today it was occasionaly i heard the tigers of "patrouille suisse" and checked quickly what's going on.
fortunately i lurk around in my moms place, so i was very close to the airfield.
will do some more shots at saturday, it's a public day then. today it was only a quick visit of the tigers and they rolled out the hunter, many children in the morning, at noon already all was over 🙁 the weather was "hunter weather" (really they call it that) and i hope saturday will be bright as today.
i didn't think they still use the graffiti hunter, everybody can sit in for fun. but i saw a poster in the hangar where it was in flight, would have like to post that to but didn't found it in the web.
do you checked "Dussy's" page? he makes super photographs, he sometimes climbs up the mountain to shoot them from there, damned!
i was already exhausted climbing 50 meters to the "tower" (i should smoke less and i climbed far to fast) 😆 , to sad they removed it.
as children we was often up there, it would have been forbidden and no chance when the MP was present, to dangerous for children to play.
but when the army wasn't present who should have hindered us?
dangerous or not, all of us are still alive you know there are times as children it can't be dangerous enough, i think that's only good, we tested our limits, even the limit of fear. i know sounds a bit stupid or naive, but i guess it has to be that way, of course it would have been rediculous if one would have lost his life and true such can happen 1,2,3.
but i think, such gives you already as child a little different view to life, instead if all is safe and pre-written. climb dangerous places, canyons or caves, gets a little real thrill out of life. i remember one occasion in a canyon i really feared to die, hanging on a rock and we didn't know where to go, back, fore, up, down? but well we made it. i will never forget this situation i guess. overall it reminds me now a bit of "huckleberry finn" and exactly for such adventures we was looking for.
perhaps when i'm old and grey i will even write such a wise book 😆
the military airbase is closed since there is no more actual danger (end of cold war), they have massive problems to keep the airfields household now with only civil use, especially since the heli base has moved to. there are plans to close it completely and build a animal/wildlife park. ok that's nice to, but nooooooo 😥
the "tiger-hunter" (the yellow-black one) is a trainer and it's possible to be guest in it...
Yes I did check out that site, great pics! 😎 I hope they keep the airport around those Hunters need a home after all! A Hunter wildlife preserve! 😉
The last time I saw an actual Hunter it was this one
