To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hey guys.

Just wanted to let you know I'm hosting a small contest where you can win a Diamant Tools plugin ($199 US) for Maya so if you're using that software and would like to get this, feel free to head over to the contest's page and read the details:

Cheers.

Guess I would need to own Maya first 😉

Is this something you use in your modeling of all the ship models you make SolCommand?

Hey mate. It's been a few years since I last used Maya but from what I saw at the time I believe it is the best 3D software. You can do whatever you want in it and it is stable ... unlike 3ds Max for example.

As for me, I am now in the process of gathering learning material to switch to Blender in the near future cause it seems that software just keeps on getting better with every new version.

I tried to sit down with Blender3d SolCommand and learn it but that interface is just way to complicated or at the least intimidating 🙂

I would like to learn a tool like that because I have been hearing good things about the engine in that you can make some short movies with it. Would like to make a short cap ship battle scene, in Blender3D but I guess that is in the future when I can get more time to sit down and learn, would be nice if the local colleges would have some classes on tools like this.
