To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I remember this site from a while back but never registered. Lately It's been a daily stop. Love the site, keep up the great work.

I'm 35 and I am addicted to space sims. I have been since the original wing commander and privateer. I never had a C64 so I missed out on some great ones. Others that are noteworthy in no particular order:

WC series

Tie Fighter

Priv 1 & 2

Freelancer

Starlancer

Freespace 1 & 2

Archemedian Dynasty (technically not space but still awesome atmosphere)

IWar

IWar EoC (one of my favorites)

Star Wolves 1-3

Homeworld 1 & 2

Star Fury

Parkan 2

Starfleet Command 1-3

ST online for a while

HardWar (also a favorite for atmosphere)

Starshatter

Tachyon the Fringe

Terminus

X series (want to love it more but the combat never feels quite right but amazing games)

Star control 2 🙂

...more recently...

Evochron Mercenaries (really starting to look and feel great, might be worth buying track ir for)

Starpoint Gemini

Precursors (fun game with some space sim elements)

I know there are many others I am forgetting. Although not space simes I have to mention the Mechwarrior series (from the very first one)and the Earthsiege/Starsiege series (the mech game, not Tribes) for taking countless hours of my life willingly away from me. This isn't even getting into console/handheld games (like Infinite Space). I'm also a huge WH40k junkie.

Also I much prefer a good SP experience to a MMO though I did enjoy ST online for a bit.

Again this a a great resource for a niche market with some wonferful gems.

Ok, that's my intro. I'm off to cruise the void some more.
