To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

You could search for Pioneer videos (and Elite2: Frontiers) in YouTube.

Also, for the keys: http://pioneerwiki.com/wiki/Keyboard_and_mouse_controls

Taking off from a planets starport caught me out the first few times because when you either press F5 or get permission to launch you take off and then just start dropping back down again!

The controls, as linked by Tichy, include ones for the thrusters/engines. Assuming you're using a US/UK keyboard, Immediately after take-off hold down the "u" key which should fire the thrusters beneath you and stop you falling back down to the planet!

You can get the Enterprise by with waiting for one to appear in the shipyards - the ships change over time so just go to the shipyard screen and use the fast forward time controls - or you can cheat and just assign yourself it by bringing down the Lua console and typing something like "[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]ship:SetShipType('Sirius Interdictor')[/background]" but with the enterprise name... whatever that is.

EDIT: the command is probably more like "Game.player:SetShipType('viper_x')" where the 'viper_x' looks like it would be replaced with 'ncc1701a' possibly.

I found this series of videos by bchimself and the Brian's videos of manual manouvres quite useful to learn how to control the ship in manual mode.
