To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Help running Pioneer on a mac

Hi to everyone on the forum. I just discovered Pioneer today. After years of waiting for a FE2 sequel, and with the recent Elite Dangerous news out there, I discovered that Pioneer has been around for several years!

Can someone help me getting the game to run?

I am on a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I downloaded the latest .dmg file and installed the game. The first time I ran the game the first thing I saw was a config screen which allowed me to change the resolution and full screen mode. I upped the resolution and checked 'show full screen', and then restarted. However now when I load the game it just hangs on a black screen and nothing I can do will change this state. The only way I can then exit is by pressing command, option & escape.

I have tried re-installing the game but to no avail. Have I missed something or am I doing something wrong?

Can't wait to try the game out!

Full screen is pretty flaky on Windows and Linux, so I wouldn't be surprised to find that its broken on OS X as well.

Best thing to do would be to delete your config file and start again. Its in /Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/Pioneer. Delete config.ini, and rerun the game. A new one with reasonable defaults will be created, and from there just don't touch the fullscreen setting <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Thanks very much for your help. That fixed it!

Is full screen permanently broken? The default window is quite small and there doesn't seem to be a way to enlarge it other than full screen.

There should be a list of possible screen sizes in the config options. If they're not there, edit the ScrWidth and ScrHeight config options to your taste.

Full screen isn't "permanently" broken, it just needs someone with enough interest to take a look at it and fix it.
