To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi people,
I checked the timestamps on a very old snapshot of Pioneer, and it turns out the project was born on the 30th may 2008, so Pioneer is 3 years old on Monday. Those early days were a fornicatory scramble to get everything coded as quickly as possible. I thought I would have a game in 4 weeks, and version 1.0 in a year...
Here are some screenshots from June 1st 2008, when Pioneer was just 2 days old:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIONEER
i hope johnny didn't mind to much about
In 1993, you would have signed a contract with a publisher and sold this :]
...and they'd have said, "This runs like crap, even on my brand new 486."
mmmm we need a birthday easter egg within the game world
turning all systems names to pioneer
that could work hehe
I took a look at my first download, alpha 2. It's amazing and wonderful to see how far we've come since that time. Thanks to tomm and everybody else involved, at whatever level. This project is very special to me. And Happy Birthday Pioneer! This toddler is starting to walk! 😀
