To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Now, something magical. The anatomy of a song

Who could deny that the Doors are one of the finest bands ever to grace this planet. People will listen to this a 1000 years from now and beyond. They will always be immortal....immaculate.

Now look what you've gone and done, Geraldine! I just treated my neighbours to Celebration of the Lizard, on a Sunday morning at what can only be described as excess volume. To follow that, I gave them a thorough dose of another hugely-talented singer who also died too young...

Ahhh. if only we were in another time, another place but, it's just the way it is...
Another time, another place, eh? Brings the old Rolling Stones poster to mind, does that!

As for Chicken Shack, the mere thought of Christine Perfect singing the Etta James classic I'd Rather Go Blind brings a tear to my eye! Of course, she was soon to be become Mrs Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. However, this next track is Fleetwood Mac when they were still a blues/rock band, before they transitioned into a cocaine-fuelled stadium band...

No Jones, No Stones!
Northeasterly gale force 8 imminent increasing severe gale force 9 soon.
I hear the song of the wind!

Here, a wee treat for ya!
Why, thank you kindly!
Β
I'll follow that with the Electric Gunslinger struttin' his stuff...
Β
And currently playing Chez Cody - Spindrifter (after which my Cobra is named).

Awesome! The Rockpalast always had the best folk! And yes I remember your ship being named that. 😉Β
Anyways from the Electric Gunslinger to the Donegal Destroyer!
The Rockpalast always had the best folk!
Talking of the Rockpalast, this power trio are from my hometown...
I remember, back in the day, when I first saw this. I wondered, who the hell is that!
This lady once had a beautiful voice - now she can't even talk.

Always loved the cover art on Argus. Even without the flying saucer, it's a great image!

Gernot would like that one. He's out there somewhere, lost in the Big Black!
King Crimson, awesome! Now, how about something new from the Stones Cody?Β 😷Β
Is that a masked emoji, Geraldine?

From a band who've churned out heaven knows how many singles, to a band who only made one...

I came across it when I bought the Island sampler Nice Enough To Eat in '69 - awesome band/track list!
Of course, Heavy Jelly were really Skip Bifferty in disguise. Sadly, they split after that single.
Yes Cody, you can find all sorts of Emojis above the text box.
It's a friend's birthday soon and I asked her what she would like. She replied that many years ago she had Dylan's Basement Tapes album but it got ruined years ago. A great choice I must say, so, today, I tracked down a brand new one that is winging it's way to her as I write this. So....
Yes Cody, you can find all sorts of Emojis above the text box.
<grins> If you can find an emoji in any of my posts anywhere, I'll be awarding points! And points mean prizes!

Love The Band, love this album...
Lockdown, and its easing, is getting to me. Outside, it's raining - has been all day! And I've got the blues!

A little number from a one-off gig, featuring a guitar break from someone with a very distinctive style...
Solstitial salutations! Staying with folk music, this is from one of my all-time favourite albums...
I was thinking of posting a Pentangle number. A very professional outfit they were, top class musicians, each and everyone of them.
Now, if you will "forgive me Cody" here is something that took even Mick Jagger back when he and his band decided to put on a spacial show, and no, I am not taking about what Lynyrd Skynyrd did back in Knebworth '76, although that too was awesome. No, instead something a good bit earlier and, when I first heard this song I couldn't believe who was doing it. A foretaste perhaps of what was later to come in the shape of "Tommy"? John Entwistle is awesome here.
I have a list of many concerts I wish I could have went to and this one was always near the very top of that list; The Rock 'n Roll Circus. What a show that was!
