To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Request people to test mod: More trade ships

Ok, so I think i solved the crashing problem i mentioned in the other thread (kudos to robn for the pointer!)

So looking for people to try it out and give feedback, especially those with low powered computers, because it could put some stress on them. I tried it out my one of the weaker computers in the house and it worked fine. Should have tried the netbook i suppose... maybe next time.

Its not final version, other things planned, and tweaks to be made i'm sure, but want to know how much i can get away with.

The mod increases the number of trade ships (based on number of stations available, currently capped at 100), while at the same time reducing the stay of NPC ships (between 2 to 120 mins). This means even though lots of ships, less chance of being blocked from docking at a starport.

You can also sit outside a starport and watch ships come and go.

When this part is done, ill move on to making the bulk carriers actually do something instead of sitting there like useless.... erm... bulks.

Just drop it in your data/modules folder and replace the existing one. Tested with Alpha 28. Presume it also works with the current nightly, and may even work with older versions as i understand this file has not been touched in a while.

Make sure it's a separate script, if you do. Couple of things to mention about bulk ships:

  1. Only four can be spawned in the parking slots.
  2. If you move one out of a parking slot, there's no way to re-use that parking slot.
  3. You cannot park a bulk ship outside a station; you can only spawn it randomly in space or in a parking slot.
  4. If you order a bulk ship to the vicinity of a space station, you're very likely to crash it into the space station.

Yeah, it would simply replace the existing bulk ships script.

1) Useful to know, shouldn't be an issue

2) Already knew about that

3) Yup, i know

4) Ah... fun, that may be a problem.
