To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

some new screenshots.

Another noob question: every time I take a screen (with ctrl+stamp) the game crashes and I have to restart. I have to save before each screen. How can i take screen without game crash?

looks like, who made the imperial systems? brianetta? (i really don't know), did a good job (and of course the effort in the tergen was made at all).

both conversion and capitol look great, i like the dunes like hills of capitol.

to your crashing game, no idea, i can't remember anything like that, but it looks like it's worth to report it on the issue tracker.

probabably or foremost machine or OS depending, since i heard this for the first time.

anyway, if you like to report it on the issue tracker don't forget to add following:

pioneer alpha version, machine specs, OS, opengl.txt (located in your local pioneer directory), stderr.txt.

---

as a fix won't be done immediatly, i would as a alternative recommend for now to use a screen capture program,

or to use "PRNSCR" (imprimere?) without "CTRL" and import the content of the clipboard into a paint program (any), if you use windows.

we (i) had to make screenshots of pioneer in this way for quite a long time...

while on the other hand, screen capture programs offer such nice extras as watermarks 🙂

@Arrakkh

Crash on screenshot? That used to happen to me on windows.

We really need to know more information about your machine so we can help you out please!!!

If you can tell us what operating system you have, if it's 32 or 64 bit, and anything else that would be really helpful.

There's also several files that are put into the folder that Pioneer creates - that's where we put messages about warnings and errors so if you could upload those to the forum or post them here that would be helpful.

Thanks,

Andy

I forget which planet it is in Achernar but when I made it one had mountains that protruded above the atmosphere 🙂 Quite spectacular if possibly unrealistic!

I saw big mountains in planet Capitol, but they didn't look to protrude over the atmosphere.

I never liked this Viper model. The cockpit window at the front and the rounded top makes it resemble a bulky airliner more than an agile fighter.

It just doesn't capture the feel of the original.

@Brianetta

I know this is briefly off topic and maybe should have it's own discussion area, but I think the majority of Police ships should be more A-Wing sized (cops lite?) Keep the larger Police Viper for when more serious firepower is needed or for official transport functions. Not suggesting that swarms of sports car sized A-Wing type craft would be any less formidable by any stretch 🙂

Back to topic:

These are actually from Alpha 28 -using the Hi Res Moon Mod.

Wonder why it's soooo dark 😉

First trip with the new atmosphere shaders. I went to Atlantica in the Epsilon Eridani system.

It's very different, now... and extremely beautyful!

The planet atmosphere looks simply amazing. I'd fly around that planet in my ship for an entire day while drinking a beer and looking out the window and remembering the good old days when I was a big hotshot smuggler 🙂
