To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Alien 30th Anniversary

It's really hard to believe that the Ridley Scott movie Alien is 30 years old this year. What a classic science fiction horror movie this is. And even though its 30 years old it doesn't look dated the filming and acting was very good in my opinion. I just remember watching this on my dad's betamax player when it was released on video, yes they actually had video stores back then for all those young people 🙂

I was 9 years old and remember sitting down with my dad and watching it with the lights off and besides being glued to the TV and trying to be brave throughout I think my dad have a laugh when he told me to go to bed right after it was done. That was one of the most scariest movies I have seen to that point and I really didn't feel like going to bed. But Alien really hooked me into the SciFi movies for life.

Here is the great cast of Alien:

Tom Skerritt ... Dallas

Sigourney Weaver ... Ripley

Veronica Cartwright ... Lambert

Harry Dean Stanton ... Brett

John Hurt ... Kane

Ian Holm ... Ash

Yaphet Kotto ... Parker

Bolaji Badejo ... Alien

Helen Horton ... Mother

I am just waiting for the entire series to be released on Blu-Ray. But I do have the collection an will more than likely celebrate by possibly scaring my kids with a night time viewing of Alien. But for those that don't have the movie check out some of the clips below....

Hi Darkone

Even though its 30 years old, I still find that chest burster scene yucky. Did you know that Ridley Scott never told the rest of the cast (with the exception of John Hurt of course) just how yucky it was going to be? He wanted their reactions to be as genuine as possible. Now that's a director! 😀

Alien is one of all time fav films along with Star Wars, also like Star Wars it has one of the

best sequels ever made Aliens.

I have read that Scott may be making a prequel to Alien sadly I dont think he will be directing it.

Checkout these two articles on Ridley Scott and the story and whether he will direct the prequel.

Very interesting, maybe there is room for optimism after all. I wonder if he will take account of the AVP films and the involvement of the "Company"? I am sure the "space jockey" in the original was not of the Predator spices. So room there for some creative licence.

The first one was a chilling science fiction horror film, the second one "Rambo In Space" (and I loved them both). Thing went downhill from there.

AMC just had all the Alien movies playing last night... sometimes I hate it when they edit lines and scenes in a movie. The movie is on after 11pm it shouldn't be edited 🙂
