To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I just saw this new trailer and looks interesting, almost reminds me of that movie Alien Nation with Roddy Piper 🙂

I haven't gotten around to seeing this movie yet, has anyone here seen it give a thumbs up/down on the movie and whether it is worth adding to the BlueRay collection?

It's a fantastic movie.

One of the few that lived up to the hype for me this year.

I will definitely be adding it to my BluRay collection, and actually want to see it again this week if I have time.. 🙂

It very different style of movie. I realy like it. No US Hero thing so refreshing. More natural reaction. Nice effect and action. Lookin out for the BR to.

But I also do like over the top hero stuff like Rambo4.

I liked the documentary still filming of the movie and the concept. There were some parts I didn't care for like the Nigerians. But I would like to have seen more of what the government was up to in the experiments. I really hope a sequel is made. The next one you would think would be a lot more action packed than the first. But the director did a good job of setting up the second film and the overall story was told well.

They did a good job on the cgi aliens as well, they talked about a prequel to the movie but i would much rather them continue the story.

District 9 was my favourite film of last year. The only film that surpassed my expectations. I remember sitting in the cinema giggling/snickering my head off at all the cool deaths and inventive tech, including the infamous gravity-gun pig blaster! 😀

Kudos for the Alien Nation comparison, Darkone. While I haven't seen the film (I haven't seen the Buffy film either) it was one of my favourite shows back in the day. Long live the Tenctonese! 😎

There are a couple of things I still remember from this movie, that human controlled robot and the *realistic* aliens. They sure did have some quality stuff in it. The story left a lot of room for a sequel, hope they'll make one.

I rather see both a sequel and prequel.

It gets on my nerves when movie companies talk about prequels. Why can't they make that movie from the beginning and work it into a sequel? I think District 9 would have been even better if we saw it from the beginning on how they got their up until the start of the first movie.
