To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Looks like Jackson finally started work on the Hobbit.
I watched this the other day and cannot wait for more and the movies themselves to come out. These movies are my all time favorite over any other movie. So I hope Peter Jackson takes his time and makes these two Hobbit movies EPIC!
Definitely hope it as good the LOR films.
Couple of pic from the hobbit
Next Xmas I know what I will be doing 🙂
I was going to hold off to buy the whole collection on Blu-Ray once the Hobbit films are done. I am so glad that all the original cast that can appear in the hobbit from the previous movies are all coming back and of course Peter Jackson directing/producing it. I cannot wait to see Smog for the first time, bet Weta studios is working hard on that one.
It’s long time since I read the book, must have been when the 8 bit game was out in the 80s.
Should be an epic battle at the end of the second film with the dragon. 😀
Yeah ! its really nice and worth to watch.I always recommend some of friends who like to watch movie that must watch it out.
This movie won't be out until Dec of 2012 and that's only part 1. Only Hobbit movie out now is the animated one from the 70's which is a classic as well.
Well sat through 2 and half hour of the Hobbit yesterday on Bluray.
Nice to be back in middle earth but for some reason the film just did not grab me like the last ones.
I would have to agree with you here Pinback, when I saw this in the movie theater I didn't leave with that feeling of 'awe'. It is confirmed that there will be an extended version that will have around another 30mins added to come out before the next movie. And what might be the issue is that in the trilogy of movies there was an overall feeling of dread because of the assault on middle-earth. That really hasn't been realized yet, and never mind the fact that the studios is taking one book and making three movies out of it, I thought it was a lot slower pace of movie that the other three.
From the trailers that I saw plus many many reviews I reached the conclusion this movie is nowhere near as cool as the "originals" so I will not bother watching it. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future, but for now I will not go see it.
Probably will get the special edition when it come out, see if it add anything to it.
Can't believe that Billy Connolly is playing one of the dwarfs as he is just unrecognizable.
I will definitely be buying the extended version and I hope that the extra footage promotes character development. Because I think that is what the issue is you need to feel more attachment to the characters and feel their magnitude of their adventure. What is going to make/break the second movie for me is the dragon, I hope they get it right and how they handle the battle at the end of the Hobbit. i am interested in oh they fill the time in the 3rd movie and how many characters from the LOTR movie we will see make a return.
Did notice in the film trailer on the DVD that their were a couple of scenes that were not in the film, same here think the Dragon will make or break the film. From what I have read about the 3rd film it seem it's going to be bridging film between the Hobbit and LOTR.
