To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I have known about this for a while actually and without reading your link I thought this movie wasn't going to take place on Mars at all and be a little closer to the book (which I have yet to read). I do welcome the remake but I don't think you can call it a remake when it really is a new movie?

Same here never read the story and from what I have read over the years the arnie film is only loosely based on Dicks story.

Suppose “Total Recall” a better name then “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”

Interesting looking at the pic in the above link, look very Blade Runner ish

Well here is the new trailer and it actually looks quite good. And there is some nice fx in this movie trailer. They look like they are stay to the same premise as the original one back in the 80's. I have never read the book personally so not sure how far they are getting away from that?

Just looked at this, looks different from Arnold's one but somehow feels the same.

Just watched this one, I liked it, but I was somewhat disappointed that the colony wasn't on mars. (as in the original)

All in all a nice scifi movie..

Been thinking about getting it, just waiting for the Blu-ray to drop down in price.

I sure recommend this movie. It has gorgeous futuristic citi-scapes and tech and the story is not bad either, so that makes it pretty much a great scifi movie 🙂

Half decent movie, with the way that cars "fly" in the future being the best feature (that and the hero's "wife" - she is rather interesting ;))

But it has some obvious, significant and quite avoidable flaws, namely "the fall". Stupid really.

I did prefer Mars. And the original.

Finally got it and have to say really enjoyed it.

It is different to the 90s film although there is a couple of nods to the Arnie film 😎 and the whole look of the film lifted from Blade Runner 😎 😎

The hover car chase is very well done,  odd thing about it are that a lot of accents in the United Federation of Britain are American 😆

I saw this on Tuesday and I actually enjoyed it and I think it was better than the first one. I agree with SolCommand I think they captured the landscape and building construction well and the use of technology. And if you were paying attention there were several scenes that were in the first movie.

Watched this the other day as well, and enjoyed it. I think it's better "science fiction" than the original, but the story isn't as compelling as the Mars version. Still, it has the best portrayal of a dystopian cityscape since Blade Runner - and also, it has Kate Beckinsale 🙂

You look good through a crosshair.
