To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Is any sort of pve being considered?
Not in OBT, but we thinking about it.
Are you playing Soul Captor? See if you share the same points made in this latest Soul Captor review.
Does anyone have any details about the universe star conflict is set in, how players will move around, whether there will be any capturing and holding territory or stations like in Eve Online?
I have had a closed beta invite in my inbox for sometime now DarthStalker and was just waiting for open beta to start before I start playing so I can talk about it. Can I officially talk about my experiences in Star Conflict now?

Yep. Now you can share your impressions.
I was very eager for playing that game, I think I even applied for the beta a long time ago. But it turned out that the focus of the game is on PVP which made me lose all interest in the game.
I wonder why all this beautiful space games have to focus on PVP (Black Prophecy, Jumpgate Evolution) instead of creating sth more Freelancer like with a bigger galaxy.
Has PVE implemented by now or is it still a PVP game with some minor or no PVE aspect at all?
I have had a beta invite for a while to Star Conflict just haven't had the time to sit down with it, maybe we are a dying breed True in that we desire 'real' content over pvp most times. I do like a good pvp game but that desire does wear off after a while.
I used to play a UT99 mod (tactical ops) on a competitive basis. it is nice to compete with other players when everyone has the same initial point in terms of what the game provides.
For RPGs or games like Freelancer it is always a matter of your equipment, which items you have (aka how long you play the game already), what skills were chosen (if available) or how much money you invested in the game (item shop, goldsellers).
There are so many other things besides your personal skill (and your hardware maybe) that play into the PVP aspect in RPGs that even in Guildwars I rarely played any PVP match.
The option to join a PVP match once in a while is welcomed and nice to have. A game based solely on that just doesn't raise my interest.
Downloading it right now. (1,5GB)
I will give a short insight of my experience with the game soon! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//mail1.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':mail:' />
Alright, first impressions.
The grafics look polished and nice, space looks good, ships have a nice design and good textures, floating asteroids feel natural and are not disturbing.
The sound of the game is mediocre - shooting, explosions, warning sounds make the game feel somewhat cheap/unfinished. And because it is an action/pvp game you always have those annoying sounds around you.
After the tutorial, where I didn't get the info what the button for 'Next target' is (maybe I missed it), that lasts maybe 5-10 minutes I was ready to start. I could pick up some missions in the hangar and was good to go. apparently there is no PVE option. the missions I got hads to be done during a PVP match.
after I pressed 'Launch' it got me into a waiting queue of about 2 minutes until a match was found I could participate in. the goal of the match was to conquer at least 2 of 3 satellites and defend them against the opponents (10-12 players in each team). the satellites produced some points while under control and the group with the most points after a specific time won.
the match itself was some nice dogfighting against human players. you get 3 ships, after the first is shot down you can go in the second ship and keep on shooting enemies. after all 3 ships are destroyed you have to watch your teammates fighting until the match is over.
besides the missing PVE option and the annoying sound it is a nice game, I will have a look into it again soon.
cheers =)
Long play through vid of star conflict.
Wow, the game really looks fantastic !!
Here is a nice Q&A with the devs that answer a lot of the questions people have: http://star-conflict.com/en/news/97/current/
Also, if people didn't read it I did post a review of the OBT back in Jan: http://spacesimcentral.com/ssc/page/articles.html/_/mmo-news/star-conflict-obt-review-r114
And here is a nice video review...
Been a while since anyone posted anything about Star Conflict.
In this video you can see us talking about Oculus Rift support, as well as some footage of gameplay with Oculus!
Oculus Rift mode in Star Conflict has native support on all platforms: Mac, Win and Linux.
I think he may be excited about it. :pilot:
Looks like they have reached release 1 what ever that means?.
