To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

A vid celebrating the 10 anniversary of EVE
I never played EVE but I always get the feeling that these videos made the game look better than it is.
Would like to see a video of how the games has changed over the last ten years as it looks pretty different to when it was launched.
They make it look much better than it is. Don't get me wrong, the game is great as it is, but after a while it gets boring because of the "point-and-click" involved. If only you'd have more control over the ship, it would change the game dramatically, but as it is, even during a pvp fight you're mostly a spectator to the fight as you do not have a direct control over the ship's movements, nor can you control the different settings for the shield, energy systems, weapons, etc. , you just click -> point a target -> wait for the outcome.
My hope is that at some point in the future they will change this system so that I may get back at playing this stunningly beautiful game.
Unfortunately they will never change "point and click" system because their core game engine don't allow them to change it.
It is designed to be like this.
Also technology is not good enough to sustain 50k+ players online at one server especially internet connections are problem if you have more than "point and click" system.
Right now your ship is one dot with speed and predictable motion or maybe motion is not a factor, only distance between other ships (dots) and hit points will go down or up using mathematical calculations depending on various factors.
That is not a big problem to stay connected and not have "lag" and require less powerful hardware on server side.
If they want more involvement than they need more information to be sent or receive through network and that can be a problem right now.
