To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

hello,

I love the game ffed3d, I am on this forum to enjoy the small community modifications I bring to the game

already have planetary and stars textures for the global map, the game is still ugly.

I do not know how to put the file in the download section ... So I put the link here ...

Thanks Geraldine.

I will compare these in my graphics editor and textures that look the best will be added in. I zipped through the updates last night and I am complete to this point now for the package and just trying to add some user contributed things to the package. Sifting through some of Potsmokes creations and uploads to see what I should add and what to leave as a separate download.

I know soon as I complete this package and I get the OK from a few people that tested it, that I will go through the download area and delete items that are included in the complete package.

i don't now if i uploadet them allready, i guess not because they are incomplete,

but venus and titan are atmosphere covered (they stand for any rocky world with a thick corrosive atmosphere and world with methane weather system and corrosive atmosphere) and i like to see them this way instead to have a x-ray based surface map. take the ones you like most.

planet textures p66

to find a pic of a "full" venus wasn't easy most pictures now are the ones you see everywhere from a "discovered" venus with no atmosphere, russia was the main force in exploring vernus back in the 70's, they've made some nice optical pictures from space. titan is a shot from the hubble and a bit enhanced by me to make it less looking like a dish.

they are "old", i did them half a year ago, but like i said, i guess the intention was to finish them before i upload them.

then i saw "vampirettes" textures and i stopped the task (allready i started to get interested then more in pioneer).

but after i revisited the thread, i thought ok, let's put them here, someone might find it useful.

doing new textures for the stars and left bigger gas giants, would have cost much more time then just to search for some nice pics of our home system 😉

most of vampirettes textures are good to, except maybe for the super giants they shouldn't be that repetive in just different colors, imho. but after all much better than the ones that comes with FFED3D, which look like odd screenshots, you can get more out of them just using the original textures from FFE, to view them you can use jongwares "FrontierImages.exe", but i allready extracted all and they are included in the textures pack i've uploadet once.
