To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I filed a dispute, citing this:
1. Electronic Arts owns the music, not WMG or INgrooves. So the claim is invalid unless EA itself files a claim. This is a requirement under DMCA and EU copyright laws.
2. The main content is the gameplay footage. The music is filler. Under US and EU copyright laws this is allowed (fair use etc).
3. I do not wish to see any more copyright trolls claiming videos on my channel and they can stick their silly claims up their smelly shitty asses. If they do not stop, they can see a kind letter from my lawyer demanding compensation for economical damages suffered due to not being able to monetize videos due to them.
If the claim is valid, please disable the complete music track and I will think twice about posting a video to youtube. If they keep monetizing /my/ content, they will see a letter from my lawyer.
I had seen announcement that Youtube were clamping down on copyright although I thought it was some thing to do with game play video.
Nothing more than copyright trolling. The ContentID system was horribly broken before. It got even worse.
I'll see what WMG will do. But I estimate their chances at success being minimal. Google/Youtube knows they must not mess with me. I have had fights over this shit with WMG before, and have won from them every time.
Also, if I even beat news organisations to it who have far more financial clout, then I really estimate that WMG will back off. If they won't, I'll ask my lawyer to write them a kind letter requesting compensation.
Wow this is crazy and has gone a little too far and in some sense it restricts the freedom of expression that all individuals should have. People should have the right to an opinion, what will people start calling infringement if people give videos, movies, games a bad review because they were using footage of their IP without permission. It's a said state the world is starting to become, where people 'think' their IP is worth something in every form. When really it only angers the consumer and makes them feel undesired and in turn, we take our money else where.
I think that Internet 2 that I believe that John Mcafee is working on would be a great thing...
“My new technology is going to provide a new type of Internet, a decentralized, floating and moving Internet that is impossible to hack, impossible to penetrate and vastly superior in terms of its facility and neutrality. It solves all of our security concerns.â€
There has also been longer time worked on streaming and websites based on P2P techniques. The streaming thing is already available, and it runs over the bittorrent protocol. It has by now been integrated or has plugins for most common browsers.
I might even rent a server for 5 euros a month, and use that to place my videos on. I am kinda getting fed up by WMG and such dubious corporations just shoving laws aside and harassing people.
I have made it clear to google that if this shit doesn't stop soon, they will see me delete my youtube account by myself.
/edit
That should force google to make a choice: lose someone with in total 5 million views accross all videos on all channels or clearly make a statement that they abandon "don't be evil.".
If the latter be the case, I will enact the plan above.
