To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hello to all spacers here!
My name is Eugene Zhukov, I am the CEO of Digitilus, author of SciFi series of books "Abyss Lights" and general producer of the game project SKYJACKER related to this book series.
I'm currently involved into two campaigns on kickstarter:
My books translation to English: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/109 ... on-saga-tr
Our game crowd funding: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/digitilus/skyjacker
Somebody can remember me by project "Abyss Lights: Frozen Systems". Anticipating your questions, I would like to explain: Being independent game developer, we got a lack of interest from publishers (very usual story in SpaceSim genre in overall) and were forced to stop project in 2005. It was distributed in limited edition in set of Thrustmasters FFB joysticks. Then we refocus on the new project, improving subject, working hard on innovating features and know-how.
Please visit our web-site: http://www.skyjackergame.com I'd love to hear any questions or feedback on our project.
And for sure I look forward to your support of the above projects.
Thank you space-friends!
Eugene

Welcome to the forum Djekaster
Read the comments you had back from the big publishers, but did you try any of the smaller ones ❓
Iceberg Interactive are space sim friendly or is more of a case of having to sell you soul to the devil to get them to publish it.
Hello Pinback,
Excuse me for so late reply - I passed your post because of disabled answer's notification in my account setting.
As for publishers - everything depends on money. In spite of the fact we are indie developers (who used to pay for themselves), such project as SKYJACKER has absolutely not-indie budget. Let me avoid the necessity to reveal the real amount of money spent to this game already, but that $200K goal mentioned there on Kickstarter is just a minor part of the whole budget. Just a hint: art content production usually takes from 30% to 60% of the development budget. I mentioned there: 90% of art content was done. We financed the project's development as long as we could, doing tons of outsourcing for that. But the global financial meltdown forced us to look for alternative ways of financing. Kickstarter is one of them.
In result - currently we are looking for money to finish the game. I already got message from Iceberg Interactive, we'll discuss conditions and see the result then.
Thank you for your interest to our project!
Hi Eugene
It's just great to see Skyjacker finally coming to light and letting people see what you have been working on for the past few years. $200k even though its a small amount in the whole budget of Skyjacker it is a lofty sum for any indie title on kickstarter without a previous history, yeah Shadowrun Returns and Wasteland 2 is a running series of games. But I have noticed a lot of indie titles don't always get the goals they are striving for, if that happens will Skyjacker be continued to be developed, just at a slower pace?
I would upload your game trailer to gametrailers.com in addition to youtube.
On your kickstarter page near the bottom you have some screenshots 'Game Menu screens', I checked the website and couldn't find these. Do you have larger images of these? And can't wait to read more about the open world game play and being able to actually be a bad guy 🙂
And of course, welcome to SSC 😉
Hi DarkOne,
As for your the most important question - yes, we will continue work on the game in any case, in spite of Kickstarter campaign result. Actually, I checked Kickstarter and IngieGoGo about year ago. But they were too low that time. Means, I saw the level of projects and their budgets and found them too low. They raised after Double Fine crowd funding campaign and we decided to try. So let's say, we test the market opportunity this way and I'll feel no tragedy if we fail on Kickstarter. Here is a good opinion of other guy concerning this (btw, he is one of our backer as well) http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/EricBoos ... _money.php
In result, we have a plan B and we won't stop work. I feel we MUST do this game finally, at least just to lift up the level of industry standards for Space Sim genre and to give people the good game. Spacers worthy to play good games ;))

I do hope there is a box version of the game at some point as downloading big games is just not feasible for me at the present time.
Actually we have DELUXE PHYSICAL BOX BUNDLE containing SPECIAL EDITION of the game DVD and the soundtrack CD.
In the future we'll probably be able to arrange physical disks distribution, despite the fact it's quite obsolete now :))

I did notice that on the kickstarter page very very very tempting. 😀 😀
I would not right off physical disks just yet, developer and publisher may prefer it but we the buying public are still attach to them. 😀
