To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

So, I've been lurching these forums for a few weeks now reading and really enjoying the maturity of this community. So, finally I've decided to officially join!
I'm your normal IT person. I work for a giant chemical company as a systems administrator five days a week 8-5 M-F. On my off time I've been spending a lot of time learning the ins and outs of game development, the technology behind producing a MMO, and more programming. I'm also a web developer on the side...
I was driven to jump into the game development world because of how CCP has decided to totally ruin Eve Online for the benefit of the few very vocal, and to the detriment of everyone else. I loved the game up until they lost control of its future and allowed the CSM to have too much influence.
I've looked at other games like Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen and a few others. While there are a ton of great titles in development, there are non that try to take on, or replace Eve Online.
I believe that I have what it takes to produce something that will replace Eve Online for players like me. We have something in development, but there's not enough information on it to make it public yet.
I look forward to becoming a member of SSC and collaborating with all of you.
Kind Regards,
Locke
Welcome to SSC, amigo!
Hey, am also new to this site.
You should check out SeldonCrisis, which I think could be the game to replace EVE Online in the next year.
Welcome to the forums Locke.
I don't think anyone is doing anything like Eve maybe because it occupies a niche within the space sim genre and CCP has it pretty much to it self.
Welcome to the station Locke and look forward to seeing what you have been working on. And I agree with Pinback, its going to be tough taking on the big gorilla that is CCP in that space. But with enough ideas and of course fan support anything can happen.
Welcome guys. I used to play Eve many, many years ago, back in the days of frigates and cruisers and battleships only, but it just started getting (a) too complicated (b) too crowded and (c) too political for my liking. Which is a pity because, as has been said, it occupies a real niche in the gaming market.

You look good through a crosshair.
