To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Greetings and salutations

Stumbled on this forum recently and was impressed with the level of activity.

A bit about me:

- Long time sci-fi fan

- Part-time sci-fi writer

- Fan of the 4x game called "Aurora" (play it as often as I can)

- Favorite sci-fi books: Enders Game, Forever War, Old Man's War, In Death Ground, The Shiva Option, Lost Fleet series, etc. etc.

Just finished reading "Leviathan Wakes", which I thoroughly enjoyed. Great dialogue. Only compliant was that the ending seemed a bit rushed. Currently reading the next book in the series, "Caliban's War".

Looks like he is.

"Recently, DW Harper was tapped to write a new draft of The Forever War for Ridley Scott, Fox 2000 and Scott Free. This is the fifth draft of the screenplay, with the original screenplay authored by Blade Runner scribe David Peoples."

But I have very little faith in Hollywood these days to do justice to science fiction stories.  It's a damn shame that we still haven't reached a point where an author can produce his own film based on his works and therefore retain full creative control and distribute the finished product online and have it all be financially worthwhile.

Maybe one day it will be possible for a first class, $200 million dollar picture to be funded completely outside of Hollywood and distributed online.

p.s. WELCOME to this little corner of the internet theiz!

Welcome to SSC Theisz

Yeah sorry you couldn't find the site sooner, with the station being in fringe space its hard to pickup on long range scanners 🙂

I haven't read Enders Game yet, but I want to because I just read 'Speaker of the Dead' which is a graphic novel sequel to Enders Game.

Enjoy the site.
