To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hey folks =)
So, finally after visiting this page for more than a year (or is it two years already?) I decided to register.
I'm a dedicated sci-fi fan from Germany in my early 30'ies. Started with Elite & Frontier: Elite 2, Privateer to Ascendany and numerous games afterwards.
My highlight so far was Freelancer. I wish I could get the hang and the time for the X series or would play some more Evochron Mercenary, which I bought twice, but I can't find the time and enough motivation. =(
Nowadays I try to avoid triple A games and support indie developers when purchasing games (kickstarter or similar). But it apparently took me some years until I understood why the underdogs in the gaming industry deserve my money more than those shiny glossy brands we all know. <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
I work for Nintendo, which combines my hobbies and work on the one hand. On the other hand, being a PC gamer and avid spacesim fan there is pretty much no game at work that raises my interests. ^^
Maybe the new console and the deal with Unity engine ( http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-09-19-nintendo-licenses-unity-engine-for-wii-u-both-in-house-and-out ) will change this in the future.
At the moment I am desperately waiting for my copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and can't wait for more details about Chris Roberts new game in a few days.
I hope I can contribute to the discussions on this wonderful page in the future.
See you! =)
Greetings True
Welcome to the SSC <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And your correct, there is not much space sim wise for Nintendo. There has been a few over the years though according to this list:

Looking at your signature and talking about Nintendo games. David Brabens company released this on WiiWare. =D
Ah lost winds. Yes that looked an interesting little game, but if you drop by the Frontier Forum http://forums.frontier.co.uk/index.php and go to the Elite section, there is a ton of posts asking the "big question", where the heck is Elite IV! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' />
Welcome to the forums True

Thank you <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
I agree, with XCOM incoming Firaxis really did a great move to please us oldskoolers and maybe show a younger generation that round time strategy can be fun, even on a console. I still wish something like Elite or Freelancer would be remade. But there is hope, maybe Chris Roberts will have some good news next week for us.
I also got the special edition, my wife will be happy to pin the poster and I will spend some time with the art book. Too bad there is no 'real' collectors edition.
Welcome True to SSC
Always wondered why there wasn't more space themed games on the consoles period, not just Nintendo. Last space game I think I remember playing on the Nintendo was StarFox <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
There is always a new indie game being talked about here so you should be able to find something new every week, at least that is the way it seems to me. And be nice to the SSC's cleaning bots, they have a lot of people to pickup after.
