To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Well as the title says really.
I have already posted a few times around the board and whined a bit about a certain game that hasn't lived up to expectations but I will refrain from going into that any further here.
I found this site whilst looking for my ideal game, I have almost found it but not quite. Basically what I want is Star Trek Bridge Commander Multi player but rather than each player controlling there own ship, I want each player to control a bridge station. The closest I have found so far is Artimus but that isn't quite what I am looking for... not yet anyway.
Well enough of what I came here for and a little about me.
I am 26 years old and live in the UK (Kent, if there are any other Space Geeks near me) I used to build computers as a hobby about 10/11 years ago but stopped for a few years whilst I tried to sort myself out financially. I still dabble a little in building computers but not to the extent of selling them any more.
My gaming habits have evolved a lot over the years too, I started on NES and Master System, then moved on to PC and my friends Playstation (before PSone came out). When Xbox was released I got myself addicted to that then the Xbox 360 until it died of the Red Ring of Death. That has now led to me returning to PC gaming a couple of years ago with a very out dated PC, which has been marginally updated but needs to be completely replaced (hopefully this December). In the time I have been back on PC I have dabbled in several games and discovered I have been ruined for single player games due to the multiplayer nature of XBOX Live and as such have tried out World of Warcraft ( I enjoy it but it is getting to be too much of a kiddies game being so easy ) I have also played Freelancer (with various mods) and a few other games whilst looking for the perfect game mentioned above. I have also dipped into a few other MMO's including StarWars Galaxies (Beta and more recently I tried a 14 day trial which is nothing like the Beta, I'm not even sure its the same game I played in Beta) City of Heroes, Vanguard, Ultima Online and Darkfall (which promised to be such a good game but failed at the last hurdle by being rush released).
I am now at a stage where I just can't decide what to play because nothing I play is scratching that itch. If only I had the skills to be able to build a game but alas I have the ideas but no way to bring them to fruition. If there is anyone out there who is interested in listening I am more than happy to give them my ideas if they have the ability or powers to make them work.
Well sorry for the wall of text for introduction, If you are reading this far down then WOW you have a better attention span than me and I hope you are able to make sense out of my ramblings.
Thanks
Colin
Hey Dramacius
Welcome to SSC and I hear ya on the total game situation I find myself always searching for something to play because my attention span keeps getting less and less as I get older 😉 I currently play Guild Wars 1 (just bought it 3 wks ago), Star Wolves 3 and in a few space game betas. I am too trying to learn to game design (I am an awful artist) so we'll how that comes out.
I am looking forward to playing Guild Wars 2, Starpoint Gemini, Deus Ex 3 and Mass Effect 2.
Oh you might want to check this game that is in development as well: http://www.stexcalibur.com/

I played the original Deus Ex and enjoyed it to an extent but never really finished it, I can't say I have ever played Guild Wars, just going to see if I can download a trial now to see what the combat system is like, if its World of Warcraft again I'm not going to bother but if its at all different then I will possibly get it and wow I just watched the GW2 trailer that is amazing, and the persistant dynamic world thats got to be good, I will watch that with hope.
No I agree and I just played the trial for a bit and although it looks absolutly stunning, its just the same as most other MMO's of the Fatasy design. Its just not what I am looking for and I will keep looking or learning to make it myself.
